Egoraptor's Sequelitis analyses Super Castlevania IV
Jan 30th 2012 12:33PM (Joystiq)Could very well be technical limitations that prevented these things, but he never complains that they were added and you, along with a lot of others, are missing the theme of the review, it seems.
They updated the game engine but he (egoraptor) didn't feel they updated anything else to complement the enhancements. The levels were designed around items, but the whip did basically the same thing as the items, if not better than them. So this "choice" people are going on about is something you have to force on yourself. This leaves you to accept the usage of suboptimal forms of play, instead of expanding the functionality or level design to allow the items to be more useful and giving the player more to do and learn.
His little paper animation gives some of his ideas on what they could've done, like expand how the whip was used since it was more functional and useful in puzzles. Adding redundant tools is poor game design, it only clutters up the game without actually adding anything.
Just about everyone seems to be ignoring that.

You just need money and a good lawyer (which goes back to money).

Here's eight rounds of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's Spec Ops Survival mode
Oct 4th 2011 12:26PM (Joystiq)But he doesn't like that they do, and there's nothing wrong with that. Realism in games is just a preference and has nothing to do with good game design.
What is wrong is wondering why its okay for people to like different things. Now, wondering the reason why someone likes something, that's different of course.

Sep 30th 2011 7:32PM (Joystiq)Not like it's hard though.
Although that could very well be why. :P
Stay awhile, and watch Diablo 3 beta footage
Sep 7th 2011 10:15PM (Joystiq)I'm just letting you know that Diablo 2 works exactly the same way in that regard so it's same as usual as far as that issue.

Sep 7th 2011 10:47AM (Joystiq)Considering that's exactly how Diablo worked, I don't see why you're complaining.
Study: Positive correlation between piracy and game review scores
Aug 6th 2011 2:43AM (Joystiq)Right, correlation does not imply causation, but it does mean that there is a relation. It could also very well be true that it is a direct causation, but the correlation does not imply that is the case.
Iwata apologizes to early Nintendo 3DS adopters
Aug 3rd 2011 1:34PM (Joystiq)Reducing price is to get people to buy it, that's the only reason you need to know, the drops in manufacturing costs is just a safe way to go about it. If they could still sell out of every shipment of a console for 3 more years on it's original price, they would all do it. Thing is, you hit a threshold of people who will buy it at its original retail price, then you try to get the people waiting for a drop or the people who will buy anything if it goes down in price or even looks like it says its "on sale."
WRUP: Planking into unemployment
Jul 23rd 2011 1:03AM (Joystiq)Since you are confused, I'll give some possible insight.
Sometimes when you get a job, especially after trying many times to get one, leaving a job, even if it's bad, doesn't seem like an option. There could be redeeming qualities about the job that you hold on to so you won't quit on a whim and risk not being able to get another job that pays poorly to just make ends meet.
Sometimes it doesn't seem so bad at first, but after working for a while and doing a good job and putting forth your effort, you don't get recognized for it, appreciated, or the ladder seemed like it could not be climbed for whatever reason, be it spite or just being unlucky or under appreciated.
Perhaps the job market was really bad at that location at the time. Kind of goes with the first one.
Hopefully that clears up the confusion.
PS: I'm aware of the possibility you are just another jerk.
