Sony says no, Immersion says yes

Oct 5th 2006 10:59PM (Joystiq)
sony fans are idiots...

for me, controller rumble is a must... we'll have been playing games with this features for years now... there is no reason to take the rumble feature out. wouldn't it be great if you have motion sensing AND rumble in the same controller?

extra cost my ass sony... adding a blue ray IS an extra cost... for all those stupid sony fans out there, adding blue-ray to PS3 is their strategy to get the BD-ROM format as a movie industrial standard. Regardless of what they say, BD-ROM will be used more than just for games!!

those sony fans probably never read about the HD-DVD vs BD-ROM war in the MOVIE industry. they only know about GAMES industry...

Xbox 360 HD-DVD bundle to undercut PS3 in Europe, according to uh-oh ... "retail sources"

Sep 9th 2006 12:38PM (Joystiq)
Hei guys...

i owned an xbox 360, PS2, Xbox, PSP, GBA and a great PC to play games on it...

to be honest, i was disappointed that the 360 does not support any next generation storage media (HD-DVD & Blue Ray) as the standard medium for the system..

the fact is that, when you're talking about HD gaming, it means all that game data, needs to be HD format from visuals (texture resolution, video) to audio (HD Audio format)... to store these types of HD data, you certainly need bigger space. hence, a next generation format is required... i would have hoped that they made the HD-DVD a standard format for the 360 but somehow, it turns out the HD-DVD drive is an add on... video game history has shown that add onn device is a bad idea... in the short term, sticking with DVD format, is an effective way to keep hardware cost down... however in the long run, when games starting to get bigger and bigger, i really dont think 9GB of space will be sufficient enough.....

on the other hand, current games (PC and consoles) about 99% of them come in a single DVD... it's odd to think how "RESISTANCE - Fall of Man" takes so much space in the Blue-Ray disc (20GB), more than any other game in existance!!

for now, i dont think i will need any of these next generation formats. and microsoft gives me the option to do just that....

New PS3 Assassin's Creed images surface

Hei #40 / Ameen...

You seem rather confused.. PS3 does not have 7 processing cores. it has ONLY 1 processing core. the 7 "processors" are DSPs (SPU in sony's term). they are sort of like math processors, usefull for intensive graphics and video calculations but utterly useless in general processing.

multiplatform games MAY run faster on PS3 than 360, but it doesnt mean they will look better.

dont ever believe sony's hype that the PS3 is twice as powerful as the 360, even though the CELL is 2x more powerful than Xenon. It's the overall system architecture that determines the system's performance.

Hope you get that math corrected, ameen..

Thank you..

PS: for your reference, the floating point performance of the PS2's Emotion Engine is 6x more powerful than the Xbox's Celeron based CPU. And yet, Xbox games can look and run better than PS2... check you math again.

The rumor was that this game was "supposedly" running on a 360 development hardware during this year E3... Makes you wonder, when is the 360 version is coming out...

Sony to support homebrew with Linux on PS3

May 16th 2006 8:11PM (Joystiq)
yeah right...

few years later, due to rampant piracy issues, they will block homebrew programs, just like they did with PSP.

and then they will ask you to download the latest firmware, in order to play the latest games...
