"You can't really make a bad choice. All three of the systems are going to have pretty solid lineups of games and they are going to be pretty fun systems to play."
I am pretty sure that the prices will be in the local currency. If you have proof that its all US dollars for the whole world, please share it with us.
I think Sony needs to do a better job explaining why Blu-ray is in the PS3. Right now the public perception (fueled by poor press events and anti-sony fan boys) is that Blu-ray is there just for the movies and the PS3 is just a way to shoehorn it into people’s living rooms. Really the gaming benefits of Blu-ray are awesome and people should be happy that its there instead of wishing that it just used DVDs. Bigger disks mean developers don’t need to cut stuff out to fit on a DVD. The games can have all the audio and video on one disk for all regions, instead of only having the option of English in the US. Having all languages on one disk saves the developers the cost of creating different versions for all regions. Blu-ray is also supposed to have a better coating than DVDs to prevent scratches. Blu-ray ahs the capacity to see the console though the next 5-10 years while DVDs fit the bill now but will soon be handcuffing developers. The point is that Sony should be also talking up the gaming aspects of Blu-ray in addition to letting people know it’s a bitchin’ movie player.
At this stage in the life cycle of a console it is not really that beneficial for developers to flood a console with less than "should be AAA" titles. When a console has been out for a while and the user base has more than few million users, then devs will start to push out titles that are not necessarily billed as AAA titles. That’s how it is for all consoles.
Also, not to rip Joystiq here but reporting PS3 cancellations gets them a ton more traffic (or at least more comments) than reporting the cancellation of a Wii or 360 game. PS3 brings out the fanboys from all sides in an on going battle of who can be the king of blind faith. Its good business for Joystiq.
