Well, in the digital age, any and every protection scheme, mechanism will be one-upped, broken, circumvented, etc. That's the nature of technology.

Look at currency. Each time the government spends millions on some sort of end-all protection from counterfeiting, it gets broken, often in the same year. Same goes for technology, and the wide-spread knowledge of these possibilities gives manufacturers the ability to work on their security.

At the end of the day, it's good that this is being reported on (keep doing it, Engadget, and Hi, Willie Gates). It continues conversations about awareness of pirating and continues the development of technology to stop it, which I do not think can be a bad thing.
