The article was a good read and made some perceptive points, especially when talking about how silo’d Sony is as a company where individually successful divisions might not cooperate as you would expect being within the same company. There were some things I didn’t like though I didn’t like the way the author brushes over facts to make his point appear stronger. "Only once in the past five years has Sony's all-important electronics division posted a profit" that happened to be this year, Howard Stringer number one priority since taking over has been to make Electronics profitable. The Bravia has become the number one revenue generator in the LCD TV market, which is the number one growth sector In TV’s which is a huge point of optimism . The whole point of the Article is misguided The PS3 doesn't have to save sony because the gaming division has never been the problem, it annually dances circles around the electronics division. A more logical focus for this article would have been can Howard Stringer turn around the Electronics division which has been hemorrhaging money for the last decade. To this point early signs say yes so I would say thing’s are not nearly as gloom for sony as they were two years ago before Stringer took over.
Nintendo is asking you to leave your console on when you aren't using it so that it can download demo's in the background.
Sony is asking you to try leaving your console on when you aren't using it to help the Folding@home project, yet some of you people are actually faulting Sony for this. This is a way cool move by Sony, and I hope everyone who buys a PS3 uses this option.
#43 There were two of the bluray laptops side by side one with a bluray disk in it one with a DVD in it. Engadget and Joystiq better be prepared to post a big retraction.
