To soothe the savage player

Oct 30th 2007 1:55PM (WoW)
To this day, I still wish they'd invest more time into lengthening the music tracks for the various locations. The music that's there is pretty good, but it really is too short for the amount of time spent in the locations. As such it gets repetitive and a lot of people just turn the music off, which is a shame.

Another thing I hope Blizz does eventually is implement event-driven music, ie. something that plays when a group engages another in pvp, or when a raid starts a boss fight. I've been playing a lot of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess recently, and what happens in that game is that there is some music that plays as you're wandering around, but when you engage an enemy, slightly more aggressive music starts playing. Something like that would be a wicked addition to WoW, I think. It would certainly make me turn on the music again.

To answer the question in this post though, my favourite piece of music in the game would have to be in Stormwind.. it's just so epic! But way too short... it feels unfinished, somehow.

My least favourite would have to be the stuff that plays in places like the Barrens... probably because of the time spent there... it's so repetitive!

"Mac users aren't really into games"

Jun 2nd 2006 12:18PM (Joystiq)
I dunno, maybe my interpretation of the statement is not what was meant, but I don't think he's saying that Mac users don't buy Macs for gaming, that they buy them for the multimedia hoo-ha and other applications (although in it's current state, that is probably true).. what he's trying to say is that IF Macs were to be as capable as PC's in gaming, and that there were major titles available for it, then MOST Mac users STILL wouldn't be interested, which is quite untrue, I believe.

Breakfast Topic: Worst Death

Ahh yes, falling off Teldrassil onto a branch somewhere in the middle definitely sucks. Personally though, I've never died so much, and so often than in Stonetalon Mountains, specifically The Charred Vale.. I had the opportunity to get a Whirlwind Axe waaaay earlier than I was supposed to, and although that meant I could kick ass, it also meant pulling aggro from impossible distances... goooooood times.. *bleck*

First MMORPG to hit the DS

May 17th 2006 9:17AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Yeah, I played Maple Story too, and it was.... alright. Until about level 10 or so. Then it became sooooooooooooooooooooo tedious, and eventually every time I started up, it was the same experience. Walk, attack, run, run back, attack, run, etc. If they are bringing this to the DS, I hope it isn't a direct port.. even if it means that it would be impossible to transfer existing characters or play with others on the PC.. because it will get boring very quickly, and may hinder the development of other MMO's on the DS (although I surely hope not!)
