Adobe updates Photoshop.com, releases Express Editor, Organizer and Android app

Aug 25th 2010 9:04AM (Download Squad)
The android app doesn't populate with all of my pictures. Only 3 of them for some reason -- out of 66. And they're all in the same location. Oh well.

Windows Phone 7 Web browser comparison versus iPhone and Android (video)

Aug 24th 2010 9:08AM (Download Squad)
These little differences mean f. all. Who cares which browser loads a half of a a second faster? If Win Phone 7 succeeds, it will be because the developers jumped on board. Microsoft has a long history of developing platforms, APIs, and SDKs so I think they probably have a friendly development system going on. In the end, it's all about the apps and Win Phone 7 looks like it's going to be a contender in the gaming arena.

Dial Zero for Android is a great idea (you can skip automated customer service systems!), but so, so poorly implemented

I wasn't happy with the permissions this app required and didn't even bother to test.

Why I was completely wrong about Google and net neutrality

"I've come to the conclusion that fanaticism of any kind is the real problem. Not just in the tech sector either. The black and white polarization by the media of this country is doing everyone a disservice."

Cheers to that. Here's hoping for a new Age of Reason...

There's hope. There was actually a period of time in our culture where most people didn't blindly buy into the dogma of religion or capitalism and actually valued free thought. Those days are gone, but they may return... probably not any time soon though.

Why I was completely wrong about Google and net neutrality

Aug 16th 2010 8:45AM (Download Squad)
Um, I'm not sure what your point is. Most WiFi is considered wired internet because it goes through a wireless access point and then over a hard line connection to the ISP. Wireless internet represents cellular networks like 3G. This is the fastest growing area of communication. Most people aren't aware of the future implications in this area, and google and verizon are trying to secure their place by preemptively preventing regulation.

WiFi security doesn't play into this debate at all.

Google Android Voice Actions - useful, but worth a press conference?

I can only see myself using something like this in the car where no one else is around to catch me speaking to my phone.

Google and Verizon introduce net neutrality proposal

Aug 12th 2010 11:14AM (Download Squad)
This is by far the worst analysis on this subject I've seen so far. I'm disappointed in you DLS. Basically the plan is for the big corporations (verizon and google among others) to gut the FCC's regulation powers over the internet and more importantly wireless networks. I'm not sure how anyone who values the rights of people to challenge corporations should be "all for it". This plan stinks -- as much as any plan where the big corporations define the rules that govern themselves. We've seen what happened when the Bush administration let the energy companies define their own rules -- anyone remember the worst oil spill in history currently wreaking havoc in the gulf?

FBI to Wikipedia: Take down our seal (or else)

Aug 4th 2010 9:12AM (Download Squad)
Good for wikipedia for standing up to the bullies at the FBI. It's like, what? No more cold war and they need to bully a great democratic organization like wikipedia? The FBI should work on improving their image rather than bullying around the little guy on the internet and trying to collect our emails.

Twitter Tuesday - Twitter is now in real-time, and it's breathtaking

Aug 3rd 2010 3:55PM (Download Squad)
This seems more worthless than Twitter itself. Someone should make an app where new tweets rain down from the sky. Then at least it'll be entertaining. This is just noise.

Analyst: Call of Duty Black Ops pre-orders outpacing Modern Warfare 2

Jul 12th 2010 10:29AM (Big Download)
I'm so over the call of duty games. I think they appeal to the lowest common denominator. While these games are near perfect shooters on a technical basis, playing online is an exercise of seeing how many ignorant mouth-breathers you can encounter in one game session. They've become the Madden of the shooter genre: essentially the same game with a few improvements at a premium price of $60. And yet people eat it up. Bad consumers.
