European PSN releases for September 29

Sep 30th 2010 12:44AM (Joystiq)
D-loaded Castlevania earlier thru my EU account but couldn't get to into it. Got it running now. LOVE the trailer that plays when letting the demo just sit for a while. Loved it when it first released and love it even more now on my 1080p TVs. Time to dig back into it. Ciao.

Monopoly Streets preview: I call the racecar

Sep 30th 2010 12:41AM (Joystiq)
Rats, I thought this was coming out next week. Oh, well. Just have to wait. Monopoly is a tried and true family game and a staple in mine board game wise and on my PS3, already.

Sony's Yoshida explains why Move wasn't possible at PS3 launchtime

Sep 25th 2010 2:53AM (Joystiq)
Criticizing Sony for taking so long with THEIR expanded motion tech??? Wow, people whine, cry and complain about err lil thing in life. It's called taking the time to get it right and if cost was an issue, as well, well, hey, it's a business and the tech is well worth it, imo, as long as they keep supporting it and the games get even better.

I had a bit of an unnerving incident at work tonite and the first thing I thought about doing when I got home to blow off some steam was play that Gladiator Duel game and get in some ping pong as well on my Sports Champions. The Move is some great shit, period.

Haters and plain ole stupid people can talk what they want. The tech is wonderful and, I didn't really like the Wii although it could be fun for a few min to play. The graphics and weak motion tech turned me off and that hindered the immersion effect for me quite a bit but not The Move. I am STILL amazed by how well it plays since getting it on release day and the level of immersion is incredible. I work up serious sweats playing Gladiator Duel and Table Tennis. Can't wait for a fitness game to drop so I can supplement my usual workout regimen with it.

Keiji Inafune remains critical of Japanese games, deems even Capcom 'complacent'

Sep 20th 2010 10:59AM (Joystiq)
Been saying this for years, many times up here, and I just recently had a lil discussion about this with a Best Buy employee who I'm cool with when I went to pickup another Move controller. He tried to counter argue stating that we need that old school gaming. Personally, if I want old school gaming, I'll hook up my Colecovision, NES, SNES, and Dreamcast, which I have emulator discs for most console systems ever made prior PS1.

Bottom line is I don't need current day gaming living in the past, period and the fact that Japanese games look and feel ancient doesn't help. Obviously, MANY people have a prob with that, as well.

Ridge Racer 7: 3D License Version preview: Nothing left in the tank

Sep 18th 2010 10:29AM (Joystiq)
Another fine example of Japanese devs JUST NOT GETTING IT!!! Stale and stuck in the past game play and graphics. After the conferences and much talk of how Japanese devved games are so far behind everyone else, even some speaking on Jap devs arrogance seeming to still believe they are top dog, a game like this pops up. I just don't get Japanese devs. Maybe it's because the Japanese are strongly tradition based and once a precedence for them is set, they don't stray from it.

Walmart lists ICO and Shadow of the Colossus pack for PS3

Sep 11th 2010 7:09PM (Joystiq)
Ahhh. I think I'll trade in my original PS2 Ico ($7 value through Best Buy, even after all this time. Can u believe it????) and get this so I can FINALLY finish Ico. Lol.

I believe this is definitely going to happen since, the other week, an HD version of Ico was shown.

Inafune: Japanese devs have to 'get humble'

Sep 2nd 2010 11:11PM (Joystiq)
"Inafune said that some Japanese developers are "still living the glory of the '80s and '90s," when the NES, Super NES and Genesis delivered a steady stream of hit games from Japan to the world. "So they don't admit that there is a problem to start with." He advised his colleagues to "get humble and start learning what's going on.""

Been saying that for years, now.

Mafia 2 unlikely to be profitable, Pachter says

Aug 30th 2010 7:48PM (Joystiq)
Demo was terrible and I'm highly disappointed because I was looking forward to this game and avoided all vids and previews since the intial ones months and months ago.The character movement and driving seemed real bad to me.

Sony doesn't expect huge day one sales for Move, counting on word of mouth

Aug 26th 2010 1:46PM (Joystiq)
Well, they have my money on day one. I didn't think the Wii was a good idea from a "core gamer" perspective, before it came out, and guess what? More casual to non-gamers bought the thing than core gamers...so it's been said, at least. Lol.

Personally, I didn't want an inferior system with it's focal point being a motion control scheme being and old gen looking graphics. Now, with the Move, it's the best of the motion control world taken to another level with a superior and powerful system and current gen graphics. I want in!
