Ever since I discovered this, I imagined it as a good buddy cop-style comedy movie, but I'd enjoy a more serious version of it instead.

Let's not forget the other effect of this move: NBC has 5 more hours of primetime comedy/drama/reality/game show programming to water down NBC's already weak lineup. I can't wait!

Phantasy Star Zero? oh wait no, close enough.

tl;dr: You kill things and get stronger. There's just some intermediate step you need to spend hours and hours slogging through in order to do it.

Funny, I though Chevy Chase falling flat used to be his shtick.

I think he's well-written and the acting is pretty good, just the two elements are somewhat out of sync right now. As the character was added after the pilot, it's possible these first few scripts were written without any specific actor in mind, but, once things get going, the role and the actor will (hopefully) mesh more and deliver on the potential already evident.

... and the best part, Joel? ... Michael associating regretful thoughts with things that "she" said, whoever she may be ... my money's on Jan.

I'll be honest, I do it, but not simply as straightforward as this. I stir up the ice cream (usually vanilla with chocolate sauce) into a smooth paste/soup-like thing. Then i add a dash of milk to keep it from being wholly solid and unmanageable and a little salt (sea salt to be precise) to liven up the flavor profile.
Of course, I also put ice on my milk, salt on my apples and brought saltines to the dining hall whenever they served lamb in order to partake in the ancient delicacy of mint jelly and crackers.
I am not a crackpot.

Not historically overlooked, but overlooked these days, I'll go with Tetris. Once someone can reproduce Tetris' appeal using the DS interface, the world will end. I figure it'll take till sometime in December 2012.
