@mogren Adding a tab for people in the bing home page search shouldn't be that big of a deal. However, you're going to have to switch the tab to the people tab anyway, so its the same number of gestures.
I appreciate the viewpoints of the editors. However, we know that the app situation wasn't going to be addressed today as they said they wanted to hold that off until MIX. I like the fact that they focused today on the OS and how it differentiates itself because otherwise we would be talking about what apps were available and which ones weren't instead of the philosophy of the OS. I look forward to next month when we hear more about the apps and their implementation.
At the end of the day, Microsoft has developed a product that should be attractive to hardware vendors. Let's not forget that the Iphone OS is limited to Apple on a limited number of carriers and the only real option for hardware OEMs is Android or a custom operating system. Microsoft just made their mark in the sand as a very viable option. At the end of the day, Android will never have Xbox live, music, movies, and podcast integration like the Mobile 7. However, Mobile 7 will always get the benefits of Google apps and their equivalents on the Mobile 7 platform.
@sigiii2 I only wish they would do that. Given that they are already using snapdragon...why not increase the size and just put a bigger battery in there??
@JONNNathannn I thought they said the home page icons would show that you have new messages...maybe they'll use the top bar or the blinking LED to notify users they have a new message. Given that you only have a couple places to access all notifications (people for social network, text for text, email for email) it should be easy to just use diff. LED icons.
@teggernaut If anything, I think it simplifies everything b/c you will only have ONE people icon that will integrate as many of the social networks as you use. In addition, it is easy enough to pull the information rather than creating an entire app with UI, so should make it easy for all services to integrate. I do believe that battery life on a constantly updating device is going to be painful on the battery life, but that seems to be what people want.
I think they've done a pretty good job at hiding information on WinMo7 b/c we know really nothing about the UI other than it will be Zune like. I hope I can use it as a Zune b/c I'd love to consolidate my devices again and have Zune functionality with 3G instead of just Wifi.
My guess is that they put out a lot of information regarding apps in their announcement which isn't something I've been hearing a lot about.
The face that Google is advertising on Super Bowl sunday says that they are feeling the dent that Bing is making in the search game and are trying to battle back a bit to maintain their position.
