Bethesda settles all Fallout IP related lawsuits

Jan 10th 2012 6:51AM (Joystiq)
@Al Ferreira

Well, they're making ... something.

http://www.zenimaxonline.com/

"Who are you guys?

We're the best kept secret in the gaming industry… But, seriously, we're the online game development studio of ZeniMax Media, who also owns Bethesda Softworks. So think of us as the multiplayer-focused Bethesda Softworks.

Our President was one of the founders of Mythic Entertainment and was the producer of Dark Age of Camelot and lots of other titles there. Our team is made of many other people who worked at Mythic, as well as NCsoft, Firaxis, Sony Online, EA, and Bethesda Softworks. ZeniMax Online's staff had leadership roles on popular MMOGs like Dark Age of Camelot, Warhammer Online, Star Wars: Galaxies, Ultima Online, and The Sims Online.

Suffice it to say, we are very experienced and are looking forward to making the best MMOGs possible."

Looks like Bethesda pretty much swept the decks. 2 million is a pittance given that Zenimax is probably already developing a Fallout MMO at some other studio (not Bethesda Softworks).

PSA: PAX East 3-day passes sold out; sorry, slowpokes

"you can bathe in the Charles River (no you can't)."

Yes, you can, the Charles River is swimmable all but about eight days a year now. In a few more years it will be safe to swim any day of the year, it is no longer full of dirty water.

"I live in New York and I just go to PAX West I much prefer it."

And we prefer that New Yorkers stay out of Boston too, so it works well for everyone.

Successfully obtained from KMart Somerville MA. Not nearly as painful an experience as I was lead to believe.

I'm a big metal slug fan, and I played SMR at PAX East.

SMR only activated my "meh" response. Just no fun factor. The visual style is most reminiscent to me of the faux-3d prerendered games from the SNES/Genesis era like Clay Fighters, that wasn't a turn-on either.

Good luck to you guys, I am predisposed by birth to support anyone doing the good work in the Boston area.

@sigma8

True that. And notice where China turns to when they want a crapload of personal information that may or may not compromise national security, that's right, Google's servers.

"Browser based gaming"

More like "ways to advertise and develop marketing profiles of you based on your browser based gaming habits."

Google is not your friend.

Doodle Jump dev and Apple warn other 'doodle' apps

The problem being, if they put a Q in "doodle" then Sony would go after them for ripping off this character:
