Ah, the game that wasn't released in the US for fears that the (optional) gay relationship in the game would not sit well with western audiences. I always found it odd that they would release the second part of the series without releasing the first in the US.

I will be witching the Ghouls to death, if only because they seem to be every damn place in The Witcher's universe.

Sounds about right to me. Microsoft is trying to force Vista down the throats of gamers; Sigil just didn't want to take the fall if/when Vista tanks. I mean, when was the last time you heard of a developer BUYING BACK the rights to a game in order to go to a different publisher? I don't think I've heard that one in some time, and it's a pretty sure sign that something more then "varying visions" is the problem.
