Remember, the sales of the 360 have been impacted by the supply problems that Microsoft experienced since launch. If there were enough consoles available there is no doubt that it would have sold 1.7 million in the first month alone. Coupled with the fact that sales will slump over the summer and with no great releases until August (Dead Reckoning) in my opinion, the is completely logical. Also, remember that this is only sales in the U.S. the does not reflect Europe, Japan(shitty) and the new markets Microsoft is opening up to (which will probably lead to more supply problems).
Wait for all consoles to combine to have record sales for the holiday season with the PS3 (selling out short supply over wins out over people who care about the price), Wii (rabid fan boys and people wanting to see what the hopes and dreams of Nintendo are pinned on, plus great marketing), and Microsoft (huge games, lower price, console already established, first look into the reality of true entrance of next-gen games, and hopefully more than enough supply). It's going to be a amazing time.
If the power supply is inside the PS3, how hot is this thing going to run? Apparently the inside of this machine is the power supply and a bunch of fans.
My sources inside Sony tell me the whole machine is going to be run by nanobots on the gaming end and that is why it is so expensive. They also tell me that when the console is turned off the nanobots will exit the machine, latch onto your brain stem and proceed to make you go out and buy Blue-Ray dvds. Afterwords, you wake up and wonder how the hell you spent 200 dollars on 3 Blue-Ray dvds while sleeping.
While the Wii does sound like an interesting console, I think people are forgeting that everyone is going to tire so swinging their arms around and looking like they are having a siezure. Don't get me wrong, I am going to pick one up and I believe that it will be a great compliment for my 360, but I can see the whole control scheme becoming tiresome after a while.
When I get home from work and want to play a game I want to relax on my couch and put the controller on my lap and play whatever game I choose and not have to expend more joules of energy than I need to. I see the Wii as a perfect console for when when your friends come over, all of you get drunk and then have the novelty of laughing at each other while you inadvertanly hit each other on the head whilst trying to play tennis or sword battle 2006. I can't see myself wanting to play Zelda and apprearing to be shooing bees away while beating an orc. Not to metion that I would seem the perfect way to play Wii would be standing up, and give me a break, how many of us stand up while we play games.
My girlfriend gives me enough crap for playing videogames, why the hell would I want her pointing and laughting at me as well. Don't get me wrong, she loves old school Mario and many old Nintendo games so I will be getting it for her as well, but as for me...I don't see the Wiimote as being that practical for playing the games I enjoy on a regular basis.
We still have not heard if we have to crack open the PS3 in order to put a new hard drive, and if so, if it voids the warranty. "You can put in any drive that you like - it is a computer, after all." sounds like "You ca put in it any hole you want." and we all know what follows that...disaster.
Seriously. I get pissed when my girlfriend goes out and buys $300.00 pairs of shoes, if go out and I buy a PS3 I lose most of my hard earned leverage. I love Sony and own a 360 (which I think is amazing and which she bought for me!) but leverage over your girlfriend is something that can be hard to come buy.
The title of the article is a bit misleading as well, it brings the notion of Microsoft using an end around peripheral to go up against the Wiimote, which is obviosly not the case. They are just stating what you can possibly do with the technology inside the camera. If anything, it allows a game developer to add an extra whistle to the gameplay of their title if you happen to purchase the camera. I really don't see the camera as becoming a stardard for gaming for the 360.
