Forum post of the day: Statements that make you leave a group

Mar 30th 2007 11:07AM (WoW)
I joined a group after a guildie asked for help in Ramparts. So I join and we are almost to the next to last boss. There was a hunter in the group and noticed after first pul he didn't have his pet out and was melee attacking. My conversation went like this:
Me: Hey why don't you bring out your pet.
Hunter: don't have 1
Me: ...
Also I was in a group for BRD once with a warrior who said he didn't want to be the tank because he gets nervous when people attack him.

"AFK neighbor just bit my dog"

Mar 19th 2007 5:33PM (WoW)
I never really had too many problems with people going afk until a pug group i had that did BF. The priest, after the first boss went afk for about 8 minutes to brush his teeth. Later he went afk to take shower. Then about halfway through our hunter left and we started to look for a replacement, he said he was going afk to "rub one out". We found another guy almost immediately after he went afk, then another person went afk to do the same thing. Then, right before the last boss he went afk again, no reason, and we made a few jokes about him always going afk. When he got back he was angry at us for talking about him going afk too much and promptly left.

Kaz says Blu-ray is the best choice for gamers

Aug 29th 2006 12:00PM (Joystiq)
If they don't start making them soon it won't matter if they have a "superior" media format. They need to launch this holiday season and they aren't going to have hardly any systems. I never minded changing discs on PS1. I actually liked the feeling in Final Fantasy games of finishing a disc and changing it. Sony is trying to make an issue out of a non-issue. They want to differentiate themselves from Xbox and the Wii because Xbox has live and the Wii is going to be a different gaming experience all together. Sony has to have their special feature that will make them different than the other consoles and make them seem like the best choice. The only thing that I think is good about Blu Ray is that they will be able to have all of the localizations on one disc. Otherwise its a waste.

PC games get console packaging

May 21st 2006 1:22AM (Joystiq)
I know that it is easier to store and probably cheaper to make, but I still miss those big cardboard boxes. I remember getting PC games as a kid and it seemed so cool getting to open a big, shiny box. It's kind of boring now that they are all going to come in DVD cases. I always did wonder why they bothered making th boxes so big though since all that was inside was a CD case. Maybe id didn't like trees.

Xbox 360, HD-DVD combo less than $500?

May 18th 2006 9:44AM (Joystiq)
It's interesting because when the 360 was coming out everyone was questioning why MS didn't opt for a HD-DVD drive for added game disc space. But now, after Sony's annoucment of the PS3 price, It makes MS look pretty good. These new drives are very expensive and if you don't own a HD TV or a one with HDMI out, these new formats don't mean anything to you. I know that HD is going to become standard,... some day. But seriously it has been very slow to catch on in America. MS kept saying this console was all about choice, you could get the basic console or get HDD, wireless controllers, etc. Whatever you wanted for it. Now we have Sony forcing people to buy Blu-ray drives with their console. I have a HD TV with HDMI, but I would rather buy a PS3 with no Blu-Ray. There is a format war, plus the line up of DVD's for Blu-Ray (and HD-DVD for that matter) is really bad. I don't WANT to see "The 40 Year Old Virgin" in Hi-Def. Sony could have lowered the price and I would have bought it. A lot of people would have bought it. At least MS is giving people a choice. There not forcing us to convert to HD-DVD, where as Sony is using the PS3 as a way to pimp out their Blu-Ray, even to people that don't want or need it. As far as 1080p, who cares? TV are only starting to be released that support 1080p INPUT. Most TV's you see now that say 1080p just display in that resolution, but can't recieve it through an input. 1080p is a long way from becoming the standard. Sony is crowing about 1080p, but VERY few people will be able to actually use it. At least MS, for once, isn't shoving another product down our throats. They deemed the masses worthy of making a choice.
