Most companies will try and silence you and hope it goes away.

There is no profit in fixing security issues for them; just an expense.

Way to go corporations. The guy was mostly a white hat used the flaw to prove a point vs trading the details on the net for others to exploit.

Would it really have been better to find this out months later after someone actually exploited the hole for malicious purposes?

Remakes are not really a bad thing, if done right.
There are a lot of new generation gamers that have never had the opportunity to play some of the classic games or things that helped to shape the countless clones and spinoffs.
The new SMB is a perfect example of that, i doubt many of the younger generations would ever play smb 1 or 3 but the new one captures the core elements for them.

That said id rather see a proper remake of the original chrono trigger!
