DISH Network 1080p VOD preview

Aug 4th 2008 5:22PM (Engadget HD)
So will this eventually lead to a 1080p option for HDTV output resolution? If its displaying VOD @1080p I don't see what the limitation could be.

That's a lot of trophies.

New Xbox Experience gets clarified by the Major

Displayport is something meant to replace DVI/HDMI on computers, not to replace HDMI in televisions. I am not saying it can't happen; I am saying it will not happen any time in the foreseeable future.

I believe you are correct, but it would've been an excellent addition. I wonder if its a technical limitation or because it would have a negative impact on XBL Marketplace HD Movie rentals.

Friends must be Netflix subscribers + no HD- that ruined it for a few people I am sure.

E308: Dashboard overhaul and Avatars

Installing a game completely to HDD is a good feature. I can finally put my 120gb HD to work and I won't have to put up with that extremely loud DVD drive.

I didn't think I would be turning my 360 on again until Gears2, but the updates from today may warrant some use.

Video downloads coming this Summer to the US PSN Store

Each time you changed the cable type you went through 'Display Settings' and made sure you selected/changed the cable type from the menu?

I had a similar problem with my PS3 but the end of the cable that goes to the PS3s AV MultiOut Port was not seated all the way, took more force than I though it would, but fixed my problem. Might as well take a look at that too.

Video downloads coming this Summer to the US PSN Store

Your problem is most likely a wrong setting in the 'Display Settings' screen. There should be an option that says something like 'BD/DVD Video Output Format' that should be set to 'Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr' not RGB. If it is set to RBG w/ component cables the video picture will be pink. I doubt its a defective PS3 b/c the games look fine. Check this setting and report back.
