Exactly. I thought the game was a blast but this isn't the way to extend it.

I agree. Loved the first game and looking forward to this, but the coherent speech feels wrong.

Except that with Station Pass you can't simultaneously play all the games. Some of the infrastructure, bandwidth, and customer service costs are shared, not multiplied, across the games.

Now the only question is if Apple will learn from this lesson, or continue down the suicidal path of digital distribution.

When I was younger I had a lot more free time and so played RPGs and strategy games that involved hours upon hours of careful planning and progression. Now that I'm older, with a family, I just want an experience that quickly gets me into the action, playing with my friends. Console action games, for better or worse, tend to be ideal for this.

Same thing happened to me. I spent about 30 minutes on that beach and the nearby docks trying to catch a shaman fish. Finally I decided to just take a break and go exploring, and that's when I realized the marker on the mini-map was pointing to a different beach. Argh!

However, it's too bad you gave up, as the game is good overall.

Isn't this game just a lobby with 2-player matches, no more an MMO than is Pogo cribbage?

Me too, but I know people who've gotten stuck in the GTA games and could not proceed because of the difficulty. The trend with modern games seems to be to include an easy difficulty that, while maybe not as brain-dead's as Bayonetta's hold-a-button-and-watch-the-game-play-itself mode, allows most people to "experience" the game without any challenge.
