I myself have had this E74 error twice on two different boxes out of the three that have died on me. One a year after launch and another a year or so after that. They were different chipsets, respectfully.

Do you work at or for Microsoft, hinting at your inclusion of "we"? Being a fan of one or some of their products turning into "we" is what causes so much trouble.
