Jesus Christ people this site doesn't owe you anything. anyone who stayed up past 10pm for this needs to reprioritize their life immediately because no news about a console is more important than getting a good night's sleep.
Irregardless of how big the news was or wasn't, Joystiq or Robert Summa shouldn't be punished for trying to bring it's loyal readers important news that leaked. Just like rumors about Apple products, this was all hyped up by the posters. Everything from a Wii price and specs to a Dreamcast 2 were speculated on. Every comment built this announcement up to something larger than it really was.
The only thing i can blame Robert Summa for would be making this seem like it was going to be an exclusive. The announcement cheapened when other sites started posting their own "come back at 12:01 am" hype posts.
But people, get over yourself this isn't the end of the world. I don't subscribe to Joystiq so i don't feel like i have any room to bitch about it.
i think both sides of the coin need to ingest a sedative.
this is going to be the most impressive launch for an mp3 player in quite some time. for a first gen device, microsoft has a very, very good idea of what consumers want, besides the color choices (brown? cotton?).
i also think that apple is waiting for people to go nuts over the Zune so they can say "wait. can your zune do this?"
the Zune would be great if it came out a year ago, but the fact is, they're going to suffer the same fate as creative, sandisk, toshiba and sony because they can't innovate. wifi is not innovation.
the Zune will be great once they include video gameplay.
Zune wireless: worthless (for now)
