AT&T's U-Verse iPhone / iPod touch app launched

Jun 26th 2009 8:17PM (Engadget HD)
Haven't heard, but you can go here: http://us.m.yahoo.com/p/wra Makes the app kind of redundant

Verizon adds 233,000 net new FiOS TV customers in Q3, up to 1.6 million total

Nov 2nd 2008 10:58AM (Engadget HD)
U-verse does have fiber all the way to the house for some customers, but it is a very small percentage of the total customers that have that. The vast majority is fiber to the node, copper to the house for U-verse

AT&T's U-verse HD Premium Tier explained: $5 for three channels

Oct 24th 2008 8:16AM (Engadget HD)
Yeah, this isn't AT&T wanting to do this, all providers have something similar. 3 channels for $5 is kind of weak, but more will eventually be added. And the "soon" that this will be beginning is November 10th, so enjoy those channels as much as you can over the next 2 weeks if you don't want to pay for them.

AT&T's U-verse Total Home DVR snakes into Kansas City unannounced

Oct 16th 2008 7:16PM (Engadget HD)
Just in case anyone is wondering, the rollout for this will be done by Thanksgiving. I've said it would be by Christmas before, but that must have been old info since what I saw today said that by Thanksgiving, every market with U-Verse will have the THDVR update.

Hang in there just a little longer! Just over a month and you will all have it.

AT&T to push U-verse services at Circuit City and Walmart

Oct 13th 2008 6:43PM (Engadget)
The gateway does no registry scan when connecting via wifi. Configured with the correct SSID and passkey, it should just connect like any other wireless router. The person you talked to most likely had no idea what the real problem was and they just made something up to get off the phone. There is nothing in any AT&T documentation that says it looks at the registry at all because it just doesn't happen. Call back and ask for 2nd tier support right away, then you'll get some real answers. It could also just be a bad gateway, have them look into that.

And BTW, the gateway is made by 2-Wire, IPTV technology that AT&T uses is by MS. So MS has nothing to do with the wireless not working, so no conspiracy to make a Mac not connect wirelessly (which they can just fine).

AT&T's U-verse Total Home DVR shows up unannounced in Milwaukee, WI

No OTA tuners are in the DVR. I wish there were. 100% IPTV

AT&T to push U-verse services at Circuit City and Walmart

Oct 13th 2008 6:25PM (Engadget)
@Todd, totally false. As of now, U-verse is distributed one of 3 ways. Fiber to the premise (or house, whatever) which is pretty self explanatory, fiber to the node, which has fiber to the dslam/vrad and uses the existing copper to go to the house, and fiber to the curb, which is sort of a hybrid of the two. Fiber is run to what's called an MDU ONT (multiple dwelling unit optical network terminal), which is near an apartment, and from there, copper supplies each unit with U-verse. Maybe at one time that was true when it was first coming out, but not anymore.

@ericdano, the problem you were most likely having is that you can only have DSL or U-verse at an address if they both are being supplied by AT&T. U-verse is sort of the flagship product from AT&T, so if you order U-verse and already have DSL from AT&T, it automatically cancels your DSL service. Did you look into internet service via U-verse at all? Would have solved that problem. Anyone you talked to should have known this. I'm still in training and I already know that.

AT&T introduces U-verse Total Home DVR in San Antonio

Oct 9th 2008 6:33PM (Engadget HD)
It just launched in 7 or 8 markets today, Milwaukee being another one of them. There is a rollout schedule, not really sure if it's public. But if I had to "guess", Miami and KC should "probably" get it around the beginning of December, and everyone "may" get it before Christmas.

Windows Mobile 7 pushed back to second half of 2009?

Sep 23rd 2008 10:03AM (Engadget)
I agree with wako. Should they release it now just to release it? If it's not so good, people will say "way to shoot yourself in the foot there MS, should have left that in the oven a little longer."
Damned if you do, damned if you don't...
