Mar 18th 2008 6:15PM (Joystiq)And yes D&D was made to be played as a group since it each person controlled one character with a DM leading. Much like playing instances in WoW, but without the DM. The problem is when the AI controls the characters, or when games introduce far too many characters. Games where you can have 4 characters in a party often have loads more to choose from at any one time, making it confusing and overwhelming. Many later FF games have this problem.
As long as the battles are turn-based and you only have as many characters in the game as the party allows I'm fine with it. But AI controlled characters in an action RPG is just so unnecessary!
