I'm looking forward to better grammar

Get a glimpse of Disgaea DS

Aug 7th 2008 11:29PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I bought this game for PS2 about a week or two before they announced it for DS. I've played it about 4 hours and liked it a lot, so I let it sit until this is released.

I hope Mii I'm using, named Satan, isn't banned. :O

A note about control options in Mario Kart Wii

Apr 2nd 2008 4:30PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Can I steer using the d-pad on the classic controller? That's all I want to know and I haven't found an answer to that yet despite all these posts on blogs about the MK controls.

Cave shooters denied XBLA release by Microsoft

Mar 30th 2008 1:50PM (Joystiq)
It's really sad that shmups are being released on XBLA, they should be released on a japanese console. I would never buy a Microsoft console so if it gets exclusive games that's a bad thing for me.

I can understand that Microsoft is paying a lot of money for shmups and jRPG exclusives to try to get the console to sell in Japan, but enough already.

Taking out the trash in Castle of Shikigami III

Oh btw, there's a demo version for PC:

Just click the big red button at the bottom of the page. Using the keyboard to control isn't exactly ideal but it's a quick fun look at the game.

I really hope this will be released in Europe. I have Castle Shikigami 2 for PS2 and I like it a lot.

Compare the Wii Wheel vs. the Wiimote in Mario Kart

I love how he used discus as a verb. :D

Also, I really hope that you are going to be able to steer with the d-pad on the Classic Controller and not just the analog stick. Mario Kart DS is the only MK game I've played so I'm used to the d-pad.

Atlus USA reveals Summon Night: Twin Age for DS

Mar 18th 2008 6:15PM (Joystiq)
I never took any AI character along with me in Fallout, I chose not to because I prefer to play as one character and I didn't see any benefit to having to babysit an AI retard.

And yes D&D was made to be played as a group since it each person controlled one character with a DM leading. Much like playing instances in WoW, but without the DM. The problem is when the AI controls the characters, or when games introduce far too many characters. Games where you can have 4 characters in a party often have loads more to choose from at any one time, making it confusing and overwhelming. Many later FF games have this problem.

As long as the battles are turn-based and you only have as many characters in the game as the party allows I'm fine with it. But AI controlled characters in an action RPG is just so unnecessary!

I agree. What is it with japanese RPGs always having parties? Why not a jRPG where you play as one character and one character alone. Works fine in western RPGs like the masterpieces Fallout 1 & 2. Especially in action RPGs it would be fine with one character.
