New iPhone, iPad model codes set up for iTunes activation bypass -- CDMA versions, maybe?

Aug 16th 2010 5:22PM (Engadget)
@PSIREX Apple customers would buy a known-defective product, apparently. :)

@iPhonemyphone LOL...so you got the one special iPhone that was designed correctly? Not likely. It's a design flaw in the antenna that Apple hasn't fixed yet. If you have an iPhone 4, you have a defective phone.

@tuatha That would make sense if the free bumper program wasn't in and of itself an admission of guilt. They've already copped to being epic fails. Again, it makes no sense that they would continue to sell a defective product AND penalize people who bought it after a certain date.

I mean, these folks are already Apple customers...no need to add insult to injury ;)

It always boggles my mind when Engadget misses the obvious.

Apple band-aided the antennagate issue wuth free bumpers -- until Sept 30th. Why would they penalize customers who buy a defective product after Sept 30th? They wouldn't. There is more than likely an out-of-band hardware refresh coming out on/around Sept 30th.

What else happens in Sept? New iPods, which includes the touch. So, have the usual press conference to announce the new iPods, throw in a bit about the antennagateless iPhone, unveil the MIA white iPhone (which has likely been delayed because of antennagate) and Jobs is hailed as a hero by the clueless fanboys.

Doesn't this explanation make a hell of a lot more sense than a CDMA iPhone with two years left on the AT&T exclusivity agreement?

Make your Magic Mouse oh-so-ergonomic with this pasty silicone grip

Mar 13th 2010 2:06PM (Engadget)
Who the hell "palms" their mouse? I've never done that. I always hold it by the sides with my non-clicking fingers and thumb, and most of my movement is done without moving my hand.

Maybe that's the source of all this RSI people have experienced in the last decade or so.

The customer is NOT always right. THAT'S what's wrong with this country. Even the man that coined the phrase, "the customer is always right" admitted that this is not a true statement. People abuse this mantra to get what they want, no matter how unreasonable it is. A more appropriate saying is, "The customer is right until proven wrong. If the customer insists that he/she is right after having been proven wrong, then the customer is an idiot."

Yes, in this instance, the customer WAS right, but it's a rarity.

The Engadget app is now available for BlackBerry!

Jan 9th 2010 9:16AM (Engadget)
You know, at first I thought it was really odd that Engadget didn't put anything in the article about what was so great about this app or why one may want to install it. Unfazed, I went ahead an installed it. Now I know why those things weren't in the article: because they don't exist.

This app does nothing that can't be accomplished through the mobile web site or an RSS reader like Viigo...and it doesn't even do it as well as either.

From link-click to uninstall in under two minutes. Inpressive, Engadget!

AT&T 'hits' back at Verizon's Map for That campaign with an 'ad' of its own

@3dpenguin Zero apps if you're not using an iPhone?

Damn it! Thanks to you, all the apps on my BlackBerry just disappeared. I hate you.

@Terin Other carriers have better BlackBerries? AT&T has the 9700, which is being called the "best BlackBerry to date" by everyone and their mother...and having had one since Tuesday, I'd have to say I agree.
