Feds eschew e-voting paper trail for the status quo

Dec 6th 2006 6:04AM (Engadget)
I think it doesn't pass, because its not such a open-and-shut case. A little printer on each computer is just another part that can/will go wrong. In fact there are machines ou tthere that have printers on them - and guess what, they are now missing the paper records from unreadable/not printed.

Electronic voting is the way to go - but remember, KISS. Forget the paper and fix the electronic version.

How would you improve TiVo suggestions?

NETFLIX like features - - -

I would like to add friends to my tivo suggestions. Share what i watch, what i like, etc. If I recomend a show it might show up on apart of their suggestions. . .

TiVo with a Twist: Ways to Enhance the TiVo Experience

Nov 25th 2006 8:56AM (PVR Wire)
I seriously doubt even a small percentage of people use a 30 second skip. I don't know anyone including my parents, my friends who does it. Hell, i'm the only person who is aware of it.

Watching videos from your PC with the Xbox 360

I have an xbox360 and watch DIVX files using the transcode360 program. Works pretty well (media center).

GOW knocks Halo 2 from Live top spot

1) When you get into a game, it is beautiful. I've never played a team best FPS that was actually fun. I'm more of a "KILL THEM ALL" kind of guy.

2) what is with the match-making system. It is complete crap. How do companies, after seeing HALO2 and Blizzard's Warcraft 3 (or even starcraft3) screw us on such a crappy match making system. Refresh, slow, refresh, the host has left. . crap

Rockstar loses many PR's, Marketers

Jul 11th 2006 8:08AM (Joystiq Playstation)
BTW -

Bob obviously doesn't understand marketing's role within an organization. Marketing is not advertising (advertising is just one possible execution of a corporate marketing strategy. Marketing role is to be the customers voice within an organization. A bad organization makes products and tries to get people to buy them, a good one has marketers who understand how they can add value to a consumers life - and then gives it to them.

Rockstar loses many PR's, Marketers

Jul 11th 2006 8:04AM (Joystiq Playstation)
If I was in marketing at Rockstar I would quote good ol W, Bring it on.

1st - release a "un-rated directors cut" of San Andreas, with sex scenes included. Available only at select retailers.

2nd - Grand Theft Auto 4 - rated and unrated versions. With the unrated version sure to not have any more sexual content then a couple mobsters twin hitting a stripper (aka a graphic episode of the Sopranos).

Use the RockStar brand to mean controversy. Move titles such as Tabletennis to other brands. . .

Watch sales go through the roof, thanks to consistent press and congress disapproval.

Networks boosting PVR sales

Smithee is obliviously deluded - into thinking somehow his ability is above normal and the average person is "stupid". Oh to be smithee and look down on the average person, how beautiful the site!

The fact of the matter is priorities. A VCR isn't as convenient as a DVR, nor as cool. People aren't stupid, they just don't want to waste time recording a show on a tape, rewinding, waiting until it’s done to start watching, etc. VCRs are crap - and that’s why no one wastes time learning how to set the clock.

John Carmack talks Cell and PS3 development

May 16th 2006 7:24AM (Joystiq Playstation)
I have a prediction. Most games will look the same (or very simmilar) on the Xbox 360 and The ps3.

Yeah ps3 is more powerfull (but harder to program for). I understand that. . .but so was the regular XBOX vs. PS2.

Here is what I predict.
EA decides to make a game
EA keeps cost down, shares development between systems
EA doesn't take advantage of "system" advantages but baselines the game
EA saves money
EA Sells lots of games anyway
EA says, why spend a lot of extra money optimizing for ps3 when I can still sell 15M copies of J. Madden without optimizing?

And the winner of the console war is... ?

I can't believe the time used to discuss this poll. A online web poll on a freaking GAMING WEBSITE is meaningless. I would trust a market reasearch, but a poll like this is meaningless and not worth your time.

Personally, I'm not putting any bets on Nintendo to pull ahead on this one (especially the over 18 demographic).
