Interview: Spoiling Heavy Rain with David Cage

Mar 19th 2010 1:00PM (Joystiq)
I agree. The oragami figure in Ethan's hand is not a McGuffin, it's a red herring. It's an unexplainable detail that purposefully tries to mislead the player/reader. And it's bad storytelling.

That said, I really like the game as a whole. I just have problems with loose ends and the way it tricks the player. It's not clever, it's cheap.

The Beatles: Rock Band DLC to include original dreamscapes

Sep 9th 2009 3:28PM (Joystiq)
I noticed that too, and I was pleasantly surprised and delighted. I'm still on the fence regarding the Beatles. I just have to wait until Friday and hope next week's RB2 DLC can hold me over. $6 is a lot easier to stomach than $60.

Hong Kong. Can you imagine the number of zombies you'd have to deal with? Oh, and still no run-n-gun.

Sleeping. Bad things tend to occur.

Joyswag: Win a copy of Ikaruga (XBLA)

Although I've loved them all, my favorite is probably Gunstar Heroes, because it took Contra and twisted the mechanics just enough to make a fresh, fast-paced action game that felt different. Every level had you attacking it in new ways, and no two are alike.

'Guitar compatibility' patch coming soon to PS3 Rock Band

Dec 5th 2007 2:37PM (Joystiq)
Why is nobody asking when Activision will get off their proverbial asses and release a patch (on 360 please) to let me use my Rock Band guitar with Guitar Hero III? I don't like owning more than 2 of the plastic things, so why shouldn't I be able to use both peripherals with both games? Harmonix is stepping up. Why shouldn't Activision and Neversoft? What is this double standard? I enjoy a lot of the songs on GHIII, but I also enjoy the band experience of Rock Band. Is it too much to ask to be able to play both with the same plastic controllers? Maybe. Where's the outcry?

Annual reminder: Xbox Live trash talk is vile

Nov 28th 2007 7:39PM (Joystiq)
I live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where this story is from. You all already know this, but as a local, Fox 6 blows. They also did a smear piece on the Nintendo DS PictoChat. They do anything for ratings. Sensational doesn't even begin to describe it. Although I am about to receive my degree in it, pieces like this is what causes me to second guess becoming any kind of journalist at all, save for a games journalist. The video from GayGamer is just plain sad and wrong. I'm insulted as a gamer. Of course, we are talking about the hyper-masculine Halo 3. It attracts meat-headed homophobes.

Joyswag: Joystiq's Legendary Halo 3 Giveaway

I don't think I'd like to meet the Overmind (Oh, I'm sorry, Gravemind) in a dark alley at night.

Joyswag: Joystiq's Legendary Halo 3 Giveaway

Sep 25th 2007 12:25PM (Joystiq)
It would have to be the grunts, mainly because I am too weak to take on any other being in the Halo Universe. Hell, right now I'm sporting a broken nose because I couldn't defend myself against a racist prick while drunk last week. So I think the grunt is the only thing I'd trust myself with. (Maybe Cortana, if she was housed in a innocuous computer chip.)
