Wii Fit set to make your New Year's resolutions easier

Sep 5th 2007 5:44PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
"i still don't understand this game...it's called going outside...and exercising. why do people need a video game to get excited about being healthy?"

Exercise is boring for the most part. Including a video game to make it fun will make a HUGE difference. Playing games makes people forget that they are tired because they are being challenged in a fun way. It occupies the body AND mind instead of just the former (to put it simple).

I started exercising regularly, and even between online matches...but I STILL want this. It's probably one of the few exciting things for the console. I've wondered how no game company has successfully pulled this off before. I'm sure Nintendo will be the first gaming company to do it well.

Yay! Wii stuff is always neat.

Wii Warm Up: Tacos, etc.

"Yesterday I was trying to eat while playing my Wii (on gamecube) I was playing Metriod Prime 2, trying to FINALY beat it before Metriod Prime 3 comes out"

Blasphemy! You need to get on that. The two Metroid Primes were the best reasons to own a Gamecube. I beat them both on the hardest level at %100 because I couldn't get enough of the game at the time. The Metroid Prime and Emperor Ing on the hardest difficulty are a couple of the most frustrating bosses I've ever dealt with though.

On topic: Um, no. No eating while playing.

Wii Warm Up: WiiAIM

Feb 11th 2007 1:42PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Um, the on-screen keyboard for the Wii is 10x better than the PS3's text entry (via controller), so NO complaints here. I'd take the Wii's onscreen keyboard over the Xbox 360's too, even though that's where I do most of my online interaction. I quickly became comfortable with wagging the remote back and forth to click on what I want.

The problem is...if AIM isn't accessible in-game (or all the time), then isn't it pointless? Maybe while you're browsing?

Besides, does aim express work through Opera? Probably not.

Wii Warm Up: Is the Wii remote gimmicky?

Feb 10th 2007 3:34PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I like my Wii, but I keep getting the feeling that the uniqueness will wear off. I was all about the DS for about a year...then I just stopped playing it altogether. It wasn't fun anymore, and it just kept getting more uncomfortable. Then again, the PSP was NEVER fun, but I still have it.

I'd say the remote will become gimmicky if developers don't take it in the right direction. It's great in Wii Sports (sans boxing). So far, no one besides Nintendo has made good use of the controller, so for now, I say it's gimmicky.

Personally, I think it's a joke in Zelda. I'd rather use the Gamecube controller.

It's funny how that game doesn't work when you actually try to do what you're supposed, but flailing around or repeatedly over-jabbing works.

Conan and Serena play Wii Sports: Tennis

Feb 2nd 2007 8:12PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
"By the way, have any talk show hosts played the PS3 on their shows? I think not!"

Of course not. The people that own PS3's don't play them *points to self*. There's no games.

Anyway, this was a pretty sweet idea. I'm going to try to infect my parents tomorrow and see how it goes.

Red Steel development costs might surprise you

Jul 26th 2006 6:23PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
If I remember correctly from a previous article, Publishers were complaining that development costs for a game are getting to be around 20-25 million. It had something to do with the costs of Next Gen development rising, so the game prices went up $10 [or more] for the consumer.

In comparison to those numbers, 13 million is cheap.

The Twilight Zone: Negative Wii press

Jul 21st 2006 11:38AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
What is this preconceived notion that playing the Wii will always have you wildly gesticulating?

From the gameplay videos curtesy of E3, this couldn't be further from the case. Wii sports is one thing (which STILL didn't seem to take much effort), but look at a game like Metroid Prime 3. The recorded player was sitting down, hardly "wildly waving" his arms.

I like to relax with a game as well, but I just doesn't seem like the Wii will wear you out. Even little exercises do give you energy in the end. A week or two on the Wii and I doubt the minor movements required will be tiring.

"Actually wrestling with a German for his gun or actually disarming that explosive are things only the Wii will let you do this gen.""

And thus why no matter which other console you buy, you have to have a Wii too!
