State of the Western RPG

@GhostH

I'd love a good multiplayer, top-down, Secret of Mana sequel :)

Why Final Fantasy XIII just didn't work

Jan 16th 2012 2:16PM (Joystiq)
@Vuvuzelas

I disliked FFX for that reason too. I don't know I want to be able to run around and find enemies that can kill me in one hit. I think X and XIII were my least favorite FF games (coming from someone who started with FF1 on NES). I still enjoyed them, but they just didn't feel like the series that I came to love. I often wonder what would have happened if FFXIII was released as a different name. Then again I'm still waiting for a good Secret of Mana sequel, so I may be broken.

Five Modern Warfare 3 DLC drops planned for next three months, 20 total over next nine months

Jan 10th 2012 2:28PM (Joystiq)
I'd like bots in the local multiplayer.
That's what kept me buying all the DLC for Black Ops.

I haven't bothered purchasing MW3 since it lacks this feature.

But on the bright side, it is fairly cheap at $15

In defense of Xenogears

Jan 6th 2012 7:46PM (Joystiq)
@garnsr

Dragon Quest 8 (PS2) was probably the last best standard JRPG I've played for a major console.

I feel free for saying this as I'm usually on the bandwagon for these classic RPGs, but Xenogears didn't really grab me. I played it for around 10 hours and only thought it was ok. I really enjoyed the human fighting parts, but I found the mech fighting to be rather boring in comparison. A friend told me that it only becomes more and more about mech fighting and so I stopped playing.

Original Parasite Eve storyboards will blow your mind

Jan 5th 2012 1:43PM (Joystiq)
I do wish that original Parasite Eve would be remade or a true sequel would come out that had the gameplay/customization of the first. Then again a number of PS1 games would do well with that formula (Mega Man Legends, Final Fantasy Tactics, Castlevania SOTN, Crash Team Racing, and others). I mean they were commercial successes too, I really don't know why we can't get this done.

Mario Kart 7 review: An exercise in fun/frustration

@gevenstaines
Personally I've always preferred it when they run along the track leaving the potential to knock more people out allowing you to climb the ranking quicker.

Mario Kart 7 review: An exercise in fun/frustration

@Gooblechev

It's incredibly frustrating when doing the Grand Prix by yourself.

Yet, when playing with your friends it's one of the most enjoyable gameplay moments out there when you're able to steal your friend's thunder at just the last second.

What motion controls could do for JRPGs

Dec 16th 2011 7:34PM (Joystiq)
Your examples of when motion controls would be good referenced action parts of rpgs that aren't really rpg related at all.
