Gears of War gets all dolled up with action figures

Jul 26th 2007 10:16PM (Joystiq)
Is it just me or does it look very Mii influenced?

Welcome to Joystiq 2.0!

Holy crap. This caught me off guard, lol. Looking good. I'm not sure what it is, though, but going through the new layout seems to run slowly. Not sure how to explain past that, lol.

Addiction experts: Video games aren't an addiction

Jun 24th 2007 10:39PM (Joystiq)
Tim:Oh God, now I see it too. I think I'm going to be sick!

Anyway, on topic, the thing these people don't put into consideration is that the addiction comes down to the person. Very few things in this world are actually addictive. It's the person that chooses to be addicted for whatever personal reason.

If these people who are addicted to video games, alcohol, and other substances didn't have whatever they were addicted to then they would be addicted to something else.

I can become addicted to collecting toy trains just as someone can become addicted to alcohol.

The $73 million dollar Phantom disaster

Jun 7th 2007 5:55PM (Joystiq)
It really is a shame. The reason why the Phantom ever had any time in the starlight with us gamers is because it was such a great concept. Unfortunetly for us and the Phantom that's all it will ever be. Why do people trying to make a quick buck have to come and tease us about a console with great potential? Seriously, the phantom really is just a (Not so) clever scam. I remember when the owner tried to sue anyone who exposed the truth(Such as the HQ not having anyone, or anything, in it).

Sam Fisher shows his softer side

May 19th 2007 2:04AM (Joystiq)
William:That tear IS Painted in there. I just got the latest issue of Game Informer today(which I only have because of Gamestop). I normally don't read the Game Informer, but saw the article about Splinter Cell and couldn't help myself. Needless to say, this picture is in the article, and no, he isn't shedding a tear. Oh wait, I lied, the picture is from IGN(At least where I saw it from). Either way, "T3h fake!!1"

I've tried all of the other Splinter Cell's(Save for Double Agent) and I've never really been impressed with the games. This game, as is, is very close to a 'must have' imo. I think it's really shaping up. I think 'hardcore' fans of the series should really look into the finer details of this game. Sure, the original elements of hiding are gone, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. They're really turning it into a Bourne/The Fugitive/Die Hard type game where the protagonist is causing mayhem just trying to get away from the bad guys. GI even sites an example where you can set off an explosion, and then make your getaway in the crowd of people.

Now, as a final note:This 'emo' stuff has got to end. I just hate how showing ANY sign of emotion is considered 'emo'. If I cry over my dead grandpa then suddenly I'm emo. If I even feel SLIGHTLY bummed about life then I'm emo. Now long hair and 'kicking it in the Mediterranean' is emo!? WTF!? And his hair isn't even that long. My hair is down to my shoulders, so does that make me the king of all emos? Next thing you know I'm going to sneeze and hear a voice nearby saying,"Quit being emo!"

Analyst: PSP getting a 'hardware refresh' later this year

May 17th 2007 6:16PM (Joystiq)
Warrior: Argh, I thought it was video game download. The new PSP ALMOST had my vote there. Although if they go with the name "Better PSP with Hardrive" then I'll pick one up just for the name.

Wii Warm Up: Enter initials

May 14th 2007 12:14PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I'm not a huge fan of leaderboards. All they do is help remind me that there are lots of 12 year olds out there that have more free time than I do. Ultimately it makes me miss being 12 years old :(.

In my experience that's how it always went. Back when I had XBOXLive on the original XBOX I would occasionally have the chance to go against a leaderboard leader. Almost all of the time I would just end up having it be some 12 year old.

I want to know how many people here have actually held high spots on an online leaderboard. I find it interesting that people always want leaderboards so much, even if they just end up being like 364th out of 500.

Google is watching you

I don't like the sound of this. I'm already picturing the disaster this will be. I'll be playing some game making porn jokes, and then when I have all my friends over I'll be embarrassed as a "Girls Gone Wild" advert pops up somewhere. I will never live that moment down.

Virtual Console videos let you at least see the game

May 6th 2007 7:14PM (Joystiq)
Haha, I just saw Bonk's Adventure. They did tell the player that he wasn't playing Super Mario Bros., right? He kept trying to jump on the enemies, and didn't learn after the first few times that it wasn't working.

Virtual Console videos let you at least see the game

May 6th 2007 7:11PM (Joystiq)
This is what I was expecting from the Wii Shop Channel ever since the E3 in which we learned of the Virtual Console. Of course I was always thinking the videos would be on the actual Shop Channel itself, but this is a step in the right direction.
