New Oddworld on hold, old Oddworlds coming to Steam this year
Apr 26th 2010 10:25AM (Joystiq)It's a damn shame it didn't do better sales-wise...
Splinter Cell takes top UK sales spot with 'Conviction'
Apr 19th 2010 9:53AM (Joystiq)My point is this: if you make a badass game, people WILL buy it.
Contrary to what some companies may try to shove down our throats, piracy does not kill a console, and there are WAY more people that pay for their games than those that do not. Splinter Cell is a perfect example of a great game that is selling well despite the fact that it is very easy to download and play copied games on the 360.
If you build it, they will come. I think it's great!

Apr 19th 2010 9:26AM (Joystiq)I thought piracy killed consoles and software sales (according to all the comments I have read on the Sony vs Geohot Other OS Debacle)...
Yet, I see a number of games in that list for the Wii and 360 (where piracy runs RAMPANT!!!!!!) that seem to be selling quite well.
Interesting huh?
Rare: 'No shortage of possibilities' for revisiting IP
Jan 20th 2010 10:24AM (Joystiq)Gran Turismo 5 delayed in Japan, new date unknown
Jan 13th 2010 1:31PM (Joystiq)Remember how cool they made the online mode sound on Gran Turismo 4? You know: the online mode that never actually made it into the game? Or how about Gran Turismo Mobile, which was promised as a port of GT4 to be released in '05, which was delayed until late 2009 and was released without a freaking career mode? I mean come: are you freaking kidding me? No career mode in a Gran Turismo game???
I am not surprised by this news in the least. What surprises me, is just how many people STILL cling to that hope and actually defend these clowns... Do you ever learn? I want it to be good just as much as the next guy but I am going to have a hard time justifying taking a chance on this game... Especially considering I already gave them $30 for a demo of it...
Joyswag: Call of Booty: Prestige Edition

Aug 1st 2009 6:22PM (Joystiq)First you gotta shell their bases with tanks: a task much harder than it may seem. Then you have to actually get into said base and plant a bomb and defend it so the enemy doesn't have a chance to diffuse it. One game could last quite a long time if you had two teams that were working well amongst themselves with 3 bases on each team. EPIC.
It's too bad many people never got to experience the multiplayer in United Offensive. If you are looking for something kickass to play on your PC for cheap, find these and grab them... I almost guarantee they will work on your PC. Hell, I saw the two being sold together at Best Buy just a few weeks ago on clearance for like $10. Then come and join us online. We could use a few good men...
StarCraft II: Blizzard responds to lack of LAN support
Jun 30th 2009 8:27AM (Joystiq)I can think of a lot of games that would require you to own your own copy of a game to play the single player campaign and to play online, but would keep the multiplayer portions open for gaming with your buddies on a local LAN without any hassle at all (requiring no cracks or anything of that sort). Call of Duty allowed this, and that is the reason it became so popular in the beginning I think... And there were many other games out there that allowed the same thing over the years, and I always thought it was a pretty smart way to approach the whole thing...
LAN gaming is one of the few reasons I still hang onto PC gaming. If developers are going to start neglecting this portion of games in the PC world, I may just be done with PC gaming altogether. Removing this option is only going to alienate a large group of your potential audience.
LAME.
Gran Turismo for PSP finally parking October 1st
Jun 3rd 2009 11:28AM (Joystiq)That being said, I have to say it: nice line helper ala Forza... And also, awesome job yet again ignoring millions of gamers and neglecting to put damage modeling. Hurray for Gran Turismo bumper cars. Again.
Which brings me to my next point: I have to cry foul. 800 cars is impressive, but just like previous Gran Turismo games, you KNOW that 60% of the 800 cars are going to be useless cars you will never drive. There will be endless variations of Honda Civics and the like that just don't need to be there. Why oh why couldn't they spend some of that time rendering all of the useless cars on damage modeling instead?
Hopefully, this was just in the early stages, and my hopes will be answered with the final release.
But again, I can't wait for this. I am just a bit disappointed is all...
