Joyswag: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story prize pack [update]
Sep 25th 2009 5:15PM (Joystiq Nintendo)Wanted's Wanat considers Wii development a 'narrow market' [Update]
Mar 23rd 2009 5:44PM (Joystiq)Of course, couldn't the same be said of all the first party games? Halo, God Of War, Ratchet and Clank? Why should it be treated any different for Nintendo? (aside from some pride issues that Nintendo is on top again)
So really, when the majority of third party software is stretched across multiple systems, each seeming to be missing something from the other... is it really any wonder when the first party efforts outsell it? Not to mention, exactly when did the first few weeks of a games release measure it's success? Last time I checked it's going to be sitting on that shelf until it's sold out. Meaning, it's going to make money. Even if it isn't right off the bat as in some cases (remember Boom Blox?).
It's a shooter. Metroid Prime 3 proved it could be done without pulling any punches on the Wii. Also considering that most of these titles get ported to pc anyways, I doubt it's that much of a deal to port the controls. After all, shooters on Wii are not much more than mouse and keyboard (keyboard replaced with a joystick).
Really, Wanted is a movie based game. Exactly why is the developer for a movie game worried about putting his game on a system with a bunch of other movie based games on it already? Or maybe he's just in denial that his "indie studio" is putting out another movie game.
Want to "crack the code" to creating a successful third party game on Wii? How about not doing a half ass job? Resident Evil 4 on Wii sold pretty good considering it was a game released years ago on two other machines (and sold pretty well then too). Amazing what a little effort into a port can do, huh? (instead of replacing the X button with a remote waggle)

Ebert thinks games are 'getting a lot better', prefers knitting to gaming
Dec 14th 2008 8:24PM (Joystiq)Even movies, the guy's soul movie production was 'Beyond The Valley of The Dolls'
Really, some guy doesn't like anything mainstream. Who cares?
Bury the Shovelware: Clubhouse Games
Dec 10th 2008 7:16PM (Joystiq Nintendo)In other words, just because it isn't your cup of tea, doesn't automatically make it shovelware. Remember, there has always been and always will be casual game players.

Apr 21st 2008 6:53PM (Joystiq Nintendo)Oh wait...
This is pretty much the video game equivalent of saying you wear pants I don't like, that makes them the worst thing ever.
You know, to be truthful, the Unreal engine never stood out to me. Unreal and Gears are good games, however it's not the engine that people remember. It's the actual game.
Wasn't the Metroid Prime series on Gamecube made with the Unreal engine? Did anybody notice Metroid Prime 3 playing any different (other than control)?
The answer is no.
So the guy has all the right to make his comments and work with what he wants to. However he doesn't need to sink to insulting the Wii. Really, I would expect more of a big company exec than fanboy behavior.
Wii Fanswag: No More Heroes
Jan 28th 2008 7:09PM (Joystiq Nintendo)Yeah it was just a cartoon, but crap. Still a good example of stepping up when the need comes.
