Syndicate refused classification in Australia, called 'unsuitable for a minor' [update]

@ObiBen8 The decision to design an R18+ rating has been approved. It will take time to actually implement.

Syndicate refused classification in Australia, called 'unsuitable for a minor' [update]

Dec 20th 2011 6:41PM (Joystiq)
@Hunter141072 Thankfully we are in the process of getting the R18+ rating for games in Australia, however it will take most of next year to sort out.
The reason is we are apparently getting an overhaul of the entire system as the whole thing is archaic. That doesn't help us for this game however.
This only increases the desire to pirate the games, the same as Mortal Kombat. Pirated games cost about $10 each, and people charge $50 to modify the Xbox to play pirated games. So it costs far less than buying a single game legally ($110 or sometimes $90 at launch).
Not saying piracy is the answer, just showing the reality of why the ratings and game costs need adjusting.

The painful sting of Serious Sam 3's anti-piracy protection

Lemmings 2 on the PC had this right. If you copied the original discs and installed the game from that copy, even after putting in the valid code of the original, the game was a demo with only the first level of each tribe available to play.
Installing from the original discs and inserting the same code allowed access to the full game.

Prepare to be psychologically overburdened by Skyrim's fully detailed locations map

Awesome work. It would have been nice for each location type to be a different colour to stand out easier, but other than that its pure gold.

Microsoft will use something like OnLive! but with the addition of an obsolete disc drive system (HD DVD) to help stop piracy.

Stream or HD DVD gives a lot of control to prevent piracy. People will be hard pressed to pirate on HD DVD as they can't get the burners or the blank discs. Even if they already have some discs and a burner, they won't get any more discs so they can't pirate the games for long.

I Am Alive not planned for PC due to piracy concerns

@Drakkenfyre
So the Xbox 360 is piracy free is it?
Not that I really care, I have a 360, PS3 and a PC so I'll just get it on a console of choice. 90% of gamers I know are the same. In fact I have only one friend that is a PC only gamer and he only uses Steam.

Bethesda ships 7 million Skyrim launch units, expects $450 million in return

@Israel Grants You A Psychedelic
I've only played it for 30 minutes thus far but combat is far better than in Oblivion and the load times are significantly improved (Xbox 360). If they are your only complaints then I believe they are resolved.

@Rannxz Why buy three copies? I can almost understand the buy it now, then buy GotY for the extra content on the same console. But getting it on three different systems that you can't transfer the save games to doesn't make much sense to me.

Nightwing DLC footage is electric, sticks Nov. 1 landing

@Baagawk Predator mode stuff would be difficult too, imaging Bats and Robin grappling for the same vantage point and smashing their heads at velocity.
What would be cool is if there was a Robin story along with the Batman one. Basically showing what Robin is doing in Gotham while Batman is dealing with Arkham City. Having this run simultaneously and have multiple points where Robin swoops into Arkham to assist Bats with a truly diabolical battle. Obviously most of the bad guys are locked in Arkham but there are still more outside he can contend with. Possible future DLC???

Co-op challenge maps would be awesome too.
