I hope you can choose the new "default" look even if you import save data. Bioware's default characters and NPCs look ten times better than those made with the in game tool because it only has a fraction of the choices for hair and faces.

Sounds like there wasn't a lot of confidence in this game justifying a $50 price tag. After paying $10-$15 for Twisted Pixel titles, I was apprehensive myself. Glad to see the extra bonuses, and that pretty much overcomes any hesitation I had.
I'm sorry, but as soon as I heard Child of Eden was a 90 minute game I was out. Times have changed, and while I don't subscribe to the "value = price/game length" formula, it's ridiculous to charge $50 for a 90 minute game with one mechanic when titles like 'Splosion Man and Braid are offering deeper and longer gameplay for $10.
