Disney Interactive implements mass layoffs; status of Junction Point, Black Rock currently unknown

Jan 25th 2011 12:07PM (Joystiq)
Really? Over a million and a half games sold is under-performing? Most 3rd-party Wii games are lucky to break even the half or quarter million mark!

This is really disappointing to hear. I really wanted Disney to consider Epic Mickey a success and do more with it as a franchise. A sequel with more steam-lined gameplay, an animated feature (with full voice acting, unlike the game!)... there was a lot of potential. In particular, I had high hopes that they would utilize it as a springboard for getting Oswald back into the public eye, since he's quickly become a favorite character of mine.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep: Volume 2 teased by Final Mix secret ending

Jan 20th 2011 10:29PM (Joystiq)
I haven't minded most of the spin-offs so far, for the most part (Birth by Sleep was great, Re:Coded has been mildly enjoyable so far, and KH3D looks promising with new worlds like Hunchback of Notre Dame recently confirmed in Famitsu... but 358/2 Days was pretty much pointless), but even a fanboy such as myself has his limits.

I pray that this could end up some kind of downloadable bonus chapter or something - just a reasonably priced, optional set of battles, cutscenes and such that fills in small story gaps but aren't necessarily vital to the plot..

Most of the video didn't reveal much, but I DID find the moment where Aqua witnesses the "Castle of Dreams" getting pulled into the Realm of Darkness (which, by KH1, is already gone) a rather powerful moment.

12 Days of Joyswag: Xbox 360 S plus 'Games for the Holidays,' A World of Keflings, Raskulls, and ilomilo

I had a very great Wii-filled Christmas this year: Epic Mickey, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Kirby's Epic Yarn, and A Boy & His Blob.

Hoping to get Ilomilo since it looks just as cute and fun - if not more so - then Kirby's Epic Yarn has been so far.

12 Days of Joyswag: Disney Epic Mickey game, jacket, Wiimote charger

Dec 24th 2010 6:39PM (Joystiq)
I find it so hard to pick just one favorite since I'm such a big Disney nerd (and thus why I want Epic Mickey so much!)...

But at the very least I can say "Wall-E" is ONE of my many favorites : D

Joyswag: Castlevania: Harmony of Despair

I'd have to say Symphony of the Night - its the only one I've ever played all the way through.

Joyswag: Get stuck in Limbo [update: giveaway closed]

When I was a kid I stupidly watched my older brothers play Resident Evil games - for years afterward, I kept swearing I saw or sensed zombies in the dark of the night.

Hands-on: Super Mario Galaxy 2 co-op & cloud power-up

Apr 21st 2010 3:00PM (Joystiq)
This looks so fun!! Just watching the footage is giving me the same sort of pure, child-like feeling of enjoyment that the original Galaxy let me experience.

Its also really nice to see that they used a Cosmic-Mario-styled Rosalina as this game's "Super Guide." Complain about her storybook or whine that she's a Peach clone all you want, but I thought she was a great character and seeing her return in any form is great.

Miyamoto explains Super Mario Galaxy 2's new world map

Mar 29th 2010 12:22PM (Joystiq)
Yeah, Miyamoto bluntly said in an interview that the game's story would play an even smaller role then the first (which only had a little to begin with thanks to Rosalina).

Playing through a game with no plot feels a little hollow sometimes. I LOVED every minute playing through NSMBWii, but then when I reached the final boss it felt like a hollow victory. Mario-beats-Bowser-and-rescues-Peach-again by itself and nothing more. As much as I love pummeling that big palooka, just doing it for the sake of doing it can only go on for so long by itself.

That's one reason I love the Mario RPGs so much. Sure the plots are still pretty much paper thin, but there's more to the adventure thanks to the introduction of villains OTHER then Bowser (Smithy Gang! Fawful! X-nauts! Shoobs! Count Bleck!) and peppering in loads of humorous dialogue throughout.

Disney wants to take Epic Mickey to 'Nintendo levels' on the Wii

Feb 27th 2010 4:09AM (Joystiq)
Warren Spector has already said that the last set of screenshots released are still from an earlier build of the game where lighting effects and such haven't been implemented yet.

So, with seven more months of development ahead, there's still time for the game's visuals to take a huge leap forward.

Also, from what I've read those shots were from one of the starting areas of the game when things are more childish and cartoony - according to Spector, the game's later levels will get FAR more twisted and strange (closer to the concept art).

This is what Final Fantasy XIII looks like on Xbox 360

Feb 18th 2010 9:08PM (Joystiq)
I've got a 360 and no PS3. I have no plans to get a PS3.
Thus, getting the 360 version.

Gameplay n; story matter more to me then graphics anyhoo.

So as long as the game play is solid and I enjoy the plot, I don't really care how much better or superior the PS3 graphics are as I have a good time playing it.
