The first blurry minutes of Ragnarok Online DS

Dec 15th 2008 3:59PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I'm REALLY mad at this game, despite the good points. You know why? NONE of the 2-2 classes are available (although there's a rumor that they will be unlocked, along with wi-fi mode, once you beat the game). It's a fun experience, but given that I nearly got to 99 with my alchie, I would've liked to play 2-2's from the start.

Sony to offer 'full support' for DJ Max Fever

For those of you that are complaining about difficulty, I REALLY wish that they'd announce if they're going to use Clazziquai Edition's new button modes. One of them is 2 Button, which should be easy enough for very beginners. If they do, then they'd have the full spectrum covered (2B, 4B, 4BFX, 5B, 6B, 8B) :)

Sony to offer 'full support' for DJ Max Fever

@ Yan, NO. You want to know the last Asian rhythm game that did that? DDR in general, Beatmania in specific. Cheesy as the songs in DDR 1st-Supernova, they drew in a significantly bigger crowd than the sh***y knockoffs with "pop favorites". Can you imagine hearing "Soulja Boy" on a crappy video game a few years after you've grown sick of it and wanting to play it?

Mainstream music changes too damn fast, and very few people want to hear old crappy mainstream songs after they've been played to death. If you're going to bring up Rock Band/GH, look at two things:

1. It's an American company, working with American music

2. Those songs have had a couple of decades away from mainstream music.

DS Daily: Chrono Glory

Bleh, I'm seriously annoyed with this port. I get what SE is trying to do: they're trying to introduce a whole new generation to Chrono Trigger, while cashing in on nostalgia from the older generation. But for some reason, I can't get into it this time around: it's probably because I hate playing most games over again. It's the reason I've never beat FFT (seriously, my save file has disappeared/been corrupted/etc. 8 times -_-), and why I'll probably sell my copy to a friend.

FFIV at least felt new: 3d animation, voice acting, new dungeons. Complain all you want, but it was a different experience. But CT's "new" stuff seriously doesn't feel worth it at all. I can Youtube the new ending, the extra dungeons I've heard are just masked retreads (with poor level design), and the extra final boss just feels tacked on. It feels like Nintendo couldn't find any IP to press for the holiday season, so they just made a half-assed port.

Thankswagging: Holiday prize pack up for grabs

I'm thankful to have such a supporting group of family and friends. Life after college graduation hasn't been that kind to me, but my loved ones have.

Chrono Trigger piracy checks already beaten

Nov 19th 2008 2:21PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Sigh, the only reason this is even an issue is because people who saw the rom were like "OMG THE JAPANESE VERSION HAS ENGLISH DIALOGUE" -_-. Although Square may have tried admirably to prevent pirates from winning, if the Japanese version was in Japanese I bet there would be significantly fewer people going gaga over this.

And honestly, I don't see this as finalized. There are reports of people losing everything on their microSD card after using some of these patches, and others are reporting that the patches still don't let them get past certain points of the game. I would say it'll take a few more days before it's actually finalized.

Joyswag: Guitar Hero World Tour band kit + Rock Band 2 game = [fill in the blank]

NOOOO! It's like Ghostbusters: you're NEVER supposed to cross streams! The results could be catastrophic...and make fanboy's heads on both side explode.

Wait...on second thought, = [Awesome! :P]

A brief look at character creation in Phantasy Star Zero

Nov 5th 2008 7:00PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Yes Yes YES! Again, I'm not too sure about this, but judging by the script that's being used for the PB, it seems as though they'll have a basic macro system in place (compare the konnichiwa (which is written), with the way that fotonburasto (which seems more generated) appears). Now it remains to be seen if there's a touch keyboard/programmable macro feature.

The character creation looks very solid, and I can only hope that the voices are memorable. All in all, going to be a Day 1 purchase for me. Can't wait.
