Glad I didn't log onto joystiq earlier as this just came on here in Cali and I got to watch it without a spoiler.
Here's what I did:
-Passively paying attention to tv in the background as VGAs come on
-Will.i.am comes on, attention becomes even more passive
-Will.i.am announces something about a new Playstation game, i glance up.
-The Naughty Dog logo comes on and I let out a little "gasp": Seriously.
-My brother sticks his head into the room to make sure i'm alright, i tell him to be quiet so i can pay attention
You had me at Naughty Dog, guys. I love the Uncharted series, but I'm even more excited to see Naughty Dog trying a new IP. Can't wait.

this looks beautiful, but for whatever reason, i'm still "mehhh" about it.

not that you wanted it, but i've got a "cool story bro" for you.
my first bad gamestop experience was several years ago. i purchased a new copy of Gears 2 . if i remember correctly, it had been out for a while and was 39.99 and when i was walking out the door, i noticed there was no plastic wrapping, just a clear sticker over the case opening. i asked the employee about it, and he said it was in fact new, and nothing to worry about. when i got home, the instruction book had clearly been used and even had a tear in the back, but i didn't put up a fuss since the disc seemed fine. about 2 weeks later i saw an email saying it was on sale for $25 new at GS. so i went to the store to try and price match. they said they didn't do that. fine. so i proceeded to try and return it and then repurchase it for the lower price, but they said i couldn't return for the price i had paid bc it was now "used". i told them it had already been opened when i purchased it and that i wasn't trying to scam them, all i wanted was to get the discounted price. they said the best they could do was offer to buy back my "used" copy for what I believe was $8. I demanded to speak to the manager and eventually they gave me a $14.99 GS giftcard but only after way more trouble then i should have had to go through. I soon after sold the giftcard to my friend for $10 since i have vowed to never shop there again, but not using the giftcard would only be doing GS a favor.
Long story short, gamestop sucks. This article is just another reason i won't give them my business

I just wanted to make sure that I'm all set regarding the free games program.

i went ahead and picked one up at target yesterday and signed onto the ecommerce store. is that all there is to it? then as these free games become available they will just start downloading or something? i didn't get any type of notification or acknowledgement regarding the free games so i just wanted to verify.

this being said, i'm not a big fan of the 3d, but the graphics capabilities regardless of the 3d effect (i prefer it off) seem to be a pretty good step up from the regular ds.

thanks for the responses, guys. that's the last time i listen to a gamestop employee. i was looking through the used games and i asked him about the compatability, and he sounded so definative when he said rockband mics don't work for singstar games that i just went with it. my mistake.
i might have to reconsider picking up a few singstar games on the cheap for party games.
