Marvelous caps 3DS game development at $1.8M per title
Nov 23rd 2010 5:49PM (Joystiq)First of all, neither of the 3 PSP revisions after the original have 4mb of VRAM. None. All PSP variations have 2mb.
Secondly, both ARM processors and MIPS processors can't simply be compared clockspeed-by-clockspeed the way you've just done. Hardware is most certainly not the place to play by-numbers-games, especially so when ARM doesn't manufacture ARM11 cores clocked at 266mhz. The closest processors ARM manufactures at that speed are at 427mhz so it's very likely that Nintendo downclocked them for whatever reason (likely in the interest of battery life and power consumption). Sony had 333mhz MIPS processors i the PSP downclocked to 222mhz until quite a bit of time into it's life cycle. As a result, aside from a few attempts, we really haven't seen many games take advantage of that.
We also don't know what variation of the PICA200 GPU the 3DS is using so that rumored 133mhz clock speed could be very well capable.
Honestly, you I don't know what you are talking about.
