THQ lets 200 go, shifts development focus away from kids and licensed titles

@Tommy758 Depends. On the one hand you not necessarily have the right people for that, on the other you might want to cannibalize your own market. F

inally after loosing so much money and actually all their initiatives failing badly (the outcome of their quality initiative was Homefront, the outcome of their media integration strategy was Red Faction Armaggedon), they probably have to cut their footprint.

@RadioActiveLunch To be honest, I wonder why One Piece is popular at all. Everybody their own taste I guess, but there is really nearly nothing more stupid than listening to 3 otaku talking about the qualities of One Piece characters. Happened quite often on Japanese TV recently thanks to the anniversary. Seriously trying to interpret more depth into OP than Christians try with the bible makes you scared what those people might do in real life.

@broken 4th wall how is Riddick: Butcher's Bay not a movie tie in, if it is DIRECTLY ties into the movie, was released in the same year as the movie and even advertised as such ?

Best movie tie in ever. Grab Assault on Dark Athena when you get it cheaply (on Steam it is often below 10$ and I have seen a chunk of similar deals for PS3) - if you loved the first one you will enjoy replaying it when you've got a few hours to waste.

Call of Juarez The Cartel review: Bound in bluh

@GaryOldmanRulez Actually no. Having an opinion != having being biased. I'd hope people try to go into a game with an as open mind as possible, and then form their opinion. In particular for this game, I'd like to see a review of the PC version (which was delayed for a few months) independent of the mess that this game is.

A good example is Duke Nukem: If you play it on the PC, you have an OK game, depending on taste probably in the 4-7/10 region. But as it was a game that is "OK" to hate, a lot of people shit on it far beyond what was necessary.

The worst part is that a lot of reviewers that usually stick to their "7+ range" let all the hate that built up because they didn't dare to rate games outside of that range fly free for the few games that no publisher will get behind. IMHO that just shows the lack of actual independent opinions among game reviewers.

@Uniform solidState Messenger I would say the 'hate' comes rather as they went a long way to piss off people without delivering something that would blow people away.

While the achievements are there, the graphics are also borderline painful, while the plot is in the end fine, a lot of the dialogue is plain bad and while the fight system is a matter of taste, it suffers from camera issues, glitches and ridiculous 'load' times after you died.

To be honest, for me it falls into a group with Duke Nukem Forever, Lair, Viking or James Bond: Bloodstone as games that I personally got enjoyment from for one reason or another but couldn't recommend to everybody.

Thinking about it, it shared with Duke Nukem that it was in development for quite a while but was released completely unpolished.

Gazillion bringing two MMOs to Europe with the help of German publisher

Jul 10th 2011 11:57PM (Joystiq)
Outch this hurts. Do NOT take the English version of a German website so literary. When they say they "published games for Nintendo, Sony and PC" they mean that they released games ON Nintendo's consoles, Sony's and PC. They never published a Nintendo game.

Instead that is actually the biggest private German TV network, that also releases dumb games for its own formats (comparable to the 'Grace Anatomy" game or some game show game) and runs a browser game portal.
