BioShock PC demo gets unconfirmed

Aug 17th 2007 10:27AM (Joystiq)
Some of us would prefer to play it on the PC even though we have both.

So sad, BioShock sticks with original release date

Games are shipped and released as soon as they go Glass, not Gold.

I only spent a few months in the QA scene as a tester, but I saw more than one game get pulled from gold and go back to beta because of errors and other serious bugs. Gold is NOT the final build in all cases.

There is, apparently, more F.E.A.R. to be downloaded

Holy crap. If you're going to equate free content with creepy incestuous relatives, then what the hell are you going to say about Epic? Not for Gears of War, of course, but UT? No one was crying when they released tons of free content for those games, much less did anyone equate them they with desperate sexual deviants.

65nm 360 chips in production 'last two quarters' - 45nm on the way

Aug 1st 2007 12:10PM (Joystiq)
I'm getting pretty tired of this 65nm chip nonsense.

The RROD failures have been attributed to faulty solder and warped X-clamps on the 360 mainboard. If these reasons are true, then a 65nm chip will do NOTHING to solve the issue.

Also! Because a 65nm chip has thinner, smaller components that a larger size chip, it does run cooler... But it also takes less heat to irreversibly damage them! That's why your Core 2 Duo processor is a hell of a lot cooler than your Pentium 4 was... But also why the C2D can't take nearly the same level of heat as the P4.

If overheating is causing a problem, it'll still happen with the 65nm chip - just at a lower temperature.

This Wednesday: XBLA runs Marathon (and Board Games) in HD

Jul 30th 2007 1:25PM (Joystiq)
It's Marathon free? Isn't it legally, completely free for PC and Mac? With graphical updates available, both the original and Infinity in addition to Durandal, and other content that goes beyond the retail game itself?

Why would anyone pay $10 for this again?

Joystiq hands-on: Marathon Xbox Live Arcade

Jul 13th 2007 6:08PM (Joystiq)
"Many of the game's weapons and concepts are direct descendants of those found in Halo."

I think you mean _ancestors_, not descendants. Marathon came out before Halo.

Audio proof of one man's 11 dead Xbox 360s

@#6:

Biased. BiasED. The word you want is BAISED.

A person HAS bias. It's a noun in this sense.

A person IS biased. It's an adjective in this sense.

Cripes! How many people are going to make this mistake?

ESRB lists Eternal Sonata on Xbox 360 ... and PlayStation 3

Apr 23rd 2007 6:44PM (Joystiq)
Exclusivity doesn't help developers. And it sure doesn't help gamers.

I don't have a PS3 - I have a 360. And I think this is great news. Why not let everyone have fun?

Valve's Steam service hacked, credit card information obtained

Apr 19th 2007 2:03PM (Joystiq)
@Illya: Rumor is (and MaddoxX himself has claimed) that his access goes deeper than the Steam Cafe servers. He claims to have root access everywhere - Which means bad things for just about anyone who's ever bought anything off steam... if it is true.

Valve's Steam service hacked, credit card information obtained

Apr 19th 2007 2:30AM (Joystiq)
Can someone please elaborate the extent of the information compromised? Like, if we've ever made a Steam purchase, should we shred the credit card we used?
