How would you change RIM's BlackBerry Storm2?

Jan 24th 2010 1:23PM (Engadget)
Sounds like the Storm's sure press is about like a Thinkpad's red nipple, there are those who swear by it and are convinced it is the greatest and those who just cant stand it with very little middle ground. Personally I like Surepress, it just makes sense that navigating scrolling and stuff like that are different from actually selecting an item. I think its a niche, but I hope it sticks around.

That said the Storm 2 could use a better browser, more memory for applications, and maybe some updates to the UI with more eye candy and cool features, but these are problems with every blackberry.

HP Envy 15 unboxing and hands-on

Dec 25th 2009 7:39AM (Engadget)
So when I first saw the Core i7 and graphics card I thought this might be a nice PC. Then I saw it had no internal optical drive, crappy trackpad, crappy keyboard, looks like a knockoff macbook (so not only do I look like a silly apple fanboy from a distance, I look like a poser up close), it comes with bloatware, and costs over $2000 when you add the blu-ray. Why would I want this, it includes all the things I hate about windows and mac. My 3 year old Toshiba is trucking along nicely after a memory upgrade and a fresh copy of Win7 and there are tons of great windows laptops with similar specs, I think I will pass.

How to install a CableCARD tuner in your DIY Media Center

May 12th 2009 7:07PM (Engadget HD)
"But to think about it, when you have a super large hard drive with a couple hundred shows recorded, do you actually watch every show?
For me, it's no."

I have a very old Moxi box from charter which allows a USB2.0 external HDD (unlike those unfornate souls who cant add an extra drive), I upgraded the 80 gig (which the idiots at the cable company said was more than enough), with a 1tb external. I would prefer a media center PC to what I have, better interface, more capabilities, unlimited mods that I can make, etc. Personally, I rewatch a lot of shows like history channel documentaries and top gear, my DVR is more like a video library. So yes, I do need all that extra store space, because when its a few months down the road and I want to watch something that came on months ago, I dont have to wait for the broadcasters! Thats exactly why I got a DVR in the first place.
