Dirt 3 to feature $10 Online Pass for used purchases

Wait, the value lost is from wear and tear and explains why the game costs less to buy used. Games are beat up, missing packaging, etc. and that is why they lose value. Arbitrarily gating the online features so that the corporation can bilk money off more users artificially.... that is not "losing value" like a car loses value.

They could stop selling games in bulk to Gamefly and Gamestop until they are able to work out a royalties deal on used games and rentals. That would make a lot more sense and wouldn't actually be double charging for something that is already paid for.

Not true, the game company was compensated for the online service for as long as the servers run when the new game was purchased. I can buy a new game right now and go home and play day and night constantly until they shut down the servers. That would be exactly the same as if 100 different users had played on the copy I sold used over the same time period. When I sell my game, it isn't like I'm making a copy adding more users to their servers. One copy, one user online -- that is bought and paid for on initial purchase.

They care about anyone and everyone who is interested in playing their game, trust me.

A proper analogy would be for Ford to say, we're going to start capping our cars at 50 mph. Now, for people who buy their Ford new from a Ford dealership, we'll unlock 50+ mph for the purchaser at no cost. However, if any other drivers want to drive the car, even the purchaser's spouse, they need to pay Ford a 20% fee to unlock 50+. If Hertz buys a Ford and then rents it out, every individual renter needs to pay the 20% fee to go over 50 mph. If the owner tries to sell the car used, the new owner will need to pay Ford 20% of the original purchase price to unlock 50+ as well.

Online Pass is a giant scam, even a car's manufacturer's warranty is passed to subsequent owners as long as it hasn't expired. Gamefly users are hurt the most.

EA talks Tiger deal, wants him to start winning

Ironic, since John Madden is retired and hasn't coached or called a game in years. Sounds to me like they're laying the tracks to drop Tiger.

@Faenix True, I'll admit that I'm more angry about the Online Pass implementation in EA Sports titles.

Or maybe the bad reviews are due to the fact that you completely half-assed the multi-player portion.

Also, f-you for the Online Pass crap.
