Battlefield 3 update today on PS3, 'soon' for Xbox and PC; server rental details

@blt3d

it was funny the first time it happened, but as usual it became an exploit that too many people started using purely to win.

Battlefield 3 update today on PS3, 'soon' for Xbox and PC; server rental details

I returned to this after a couple of months off. What use to be a smooth playing experience on my PC has now become a jerky, image freezing, FPS-dropping, server kicking mess.

I don't know what DICE did in the months I was away but unless this patch fixes the frame rate and server issues, game balancing isnt going to be that helpful.

BioWare done with Dragon Age 2, fully moving on to next phase

@jynxycat

Teleporting ninja rogue acrobats that cause people to explode by touching them with a pointy knife. Three dungeons. A game that takes place over ten years yet NPCs and environments never change. Bland, lifeless world. No character customization. A crappy UI in which every sword looks like every other generic sword and the onscreen UI looks like it was left in from alpha. A story with dumb character motivations. Pirates with boob jobs. Enemy spawn hordes.

Do I need to go on?

Portal 2, Arkham City and BF3 clean up at 2012 BAFTA game awards

@Faceless Troll

The Skyrim fanboys only read when it's receiving awards or pushing an update. Or maybe people have finally played it long enough to notice that when you stop walking and exploring the game itself is lacking.

Skyrim is a fun world to explore but as far as a complete game goes it's merely okay and lacks attention to detail, character and mechanics.

Portal 2, Arkham City and BF3 clean up at 2012 BAFTA game awards

@pigon toucher

Good for BAFTA. It's about time people stopped awarding Skyrim everything based entirely on the fact it has a big world.

"Skyrim is huge! Game of the decade!"

"But what about all the bugs it launched with, the still-broken quests, the flat story with forgettable characters, the three voice actors they use for everything, the bad UI on the PC, the broken state of the PS3 version, the last-gen graphics, the basic gameplay that's missing which other games have been doing for years - like fighting on horses to stop making them so pointless, the mods that users had to make to keep the game from crashing every ten minutes, the dumbed down character stats, the fact choices mean almost nothing and you can be both the greatest assassin and werewolf and still be looked on as a hero and savior of puppies?"

"Huh, what? Look how big the game world is! You can make a necklace and pants!"

Diablo 3 emerges from hell May 15

@TheNamelessOne

Agreed. Torchilight is about playing a fun game and not a fake MMO based around a income generating sales floor.

Blizzard used to be a cool company, now they just want more money and more control with every release. They are like a mini EA.

Kill with greater variety and look good doing it in Skyrim's 1.5 update

@TheBurbin

90% of the stuff they came up with in the "one week" of playtime was basic crap that could have gone in the game to begin with.

Killcams? Bethesda have had them in Fallout games for years. Did they forget they did that?

All this "free content" like shadows on grass is to make up for the severe lack of polish the game shipped with. Just like the HD textures. Wow. Bonus. Bringing the graphics up to the year 2010 by releasing files that should have been on the disc.

When they start adding new areas, weapons and armor, new missions and characters then you can say they added free content worthy of praise. You know, like CDProjekt have been doing continuously.

Somehow I think the first example of this will be paid DLC. If it's free then you can say Bethesda are being generous. Until then they are just patching in game elements they couldn't ship the game with.

Game elements that other titles ship with as basic features and obvious details like footprints in snow. Yeah, a game set in snow and they couldn't spend a day to add footprints. That would be like Naughty Dog ignoring the sand in Uncharted 3.

But guess what? They didn't. So I guess that makes Naughty Dog even better than Bethesda for adding free content at launch!

@Painfull Hero

"adding free content" = Adding basic gameplay mechanics that should have been in the retail release.

Can't wait until they figure out how to make those dark dungeons work and add those in an update. Tricky thing making levels with no lights.

Meanwhile it appears my Blades are still forever doomed to stand at Shearpoint waiting for a dragon that will never appear or a bugfix to tell them to go home.

'Mass Effect Team Assault' was a canned multiplayer FPS

@Teeree

No it wasn't. It was a few areas of action and one that was just a horde mode that went on far too long.

You didn't see anyone else in the battle at all.

I was expecting some major conflict around landmarks like Big Ben or in Trafalgar. What a waste of the location. It could have been generic rubble world.

And I laughed at all the stupid red phone boxes trying to sell the fact it was supposed to be in London, because they couldn't be bothered to do any of the above. I think there are more red phone boxes in the far future than there are in London right now.
