I just bought a PSP too and after playing Wipeout and Lumines for extented periods, my hands cramped. How anyone can bitch about the Stylus and not the godforsaken analog nub is beyond me.
My DS lite still gets more play than my PSP even though I love Tekken and Wipeout, Metroid, Meteos and Mario Kart are just crack. Come Christmas time...it's going to be interesting. Between Rune Factory, Bleach 2, Jump Ultimate Stars, FFIII, Castlevania, Children of MAna and Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam, DS is bring some serious heat to the party.
Dude you read my mind. I have both as well and that is the reason my DS still gets more play than my PSP. Even though, I like tekken (with the added d-pad) DS is a capable portable, just not as powerful as PSP but after looking at Metroid, Tony Hawk, Mario 64 and Mario Kart on DS, I have no problems with the 3D capabilities of the DS. Touch screen controls are the best for portable FPS and it's convinced me that Medal of Honor on PSP is not even worth a look because of the analog nub.
@ Sino
Why is it people think Joystiq is anti-sony? That's stupid. What are we supposed to do ignore the bad press that Sony generates and only look for the good press?
@ darryl
whatever. just like developers stuck there heads in the sand when news of PS2s horrible development environment was making the rounds. The reality is, developers are not going to be quick to say ANYTHING negative about Sony because they have an invested interest. It's awesome that EA came out and said what many of us have believed for months, PSP is suspect at best. Sony blew it because they wanted to focus on the technology and not the content. It's almost two years since it launched and they STILL have no killer app and no consistent online support. It's pathetic. if any other company tried to run a scam like this they would be taken to task.
I just bought a PSP for Tekken and I couldn't find another goddamn thing to buy for it except for Wipeout and Lumines. That's just sad. If Sony can't support their own hardware with great software then what the hell is the point?
I only bitch about it because I want more quality content for my PSP that's not a port of a Ps2 or PS game.
@ Pal I hear ya. I just picked up a PSP for Tekken and I bought Wipeout and Lumines. PSP is getting love for being new but my DS still gets play from Bleach (import) Metroid, Mario Kart and Meteos which I still enjoy more than Lumines.
Nintendo is getting most of my money this christmas between Wii and DS.
it's called not being an ass just because you don't like a game that others do. So why don't you stfu douche...
@ redeemer
I agree. It's like a bunch a kids that have to run around and try to ridicule everyone else because they can't have a good time. Crabs in a barrel syndrome. The game is fun and it's different. Great for quick pick up and play sessions. Leave the Trolls for the hounds and the buckshot.
@ glitchcog, dude I agree 100 percent. there is a moment in Zelda: Wind Waker when Ganondorf is describing how his people suffer during the heat of the day and the freezing cold at night in the desert. It is a very powerful scene, one that you don't normally get in games. Final Fantasy is another series that has production values through the roof, Metal Gear Solid comes to mind as well. These games are great and show that games ARE an art form but when a series like GTA gets so much acclaim, you can see Eberts arguement. Is there room for improvement and even greater levels of depth. Of course. Do I want new games with new experiences AND a new control scheme? Sure.
To each his own at the end of the day but one thing that is fact and not opinion is the industry does need a change of some sort.
@ Epic, wtf are you talking about? Action games? How about Mario and Zelda. FPS? How about Metroid, Red Steel and Call of Duty. Variety? What about Anilmal Crossing, Final Fantasy CC, Dragon Quest, Wii Sports, WarioWare, ExciteTruck, Sonic...That's not variety. People kill me with this attitude.
I'll tell you a better scenario. The Wii remote will NOT be the reason why companies will do watered down ports. Wanna know why? Because they do that now. They've been doing it since day one. How else do you explain Gun and Tony Hawk on 360. Developers are going to be lazy in their ports. it's the nature of the beast. To use the WiiMote and the Wii in general as a reason for lazy ports is retarded. Look at the last generation alone and anyone can see that ANYTHING ported from the PS2 to the Xbox should have looked infinitely better on the xbox. But they didn't. In some cases, the games ran worse on the Xbox.
I like that the Wii is different. Why? Because if a publisher wants to make money on the Wii they better bring something that really takes advantage of the controller and the console. Personally, I don't want me-too-itis across my consoles.
Pac Man? No way Lucas. He's a lame character regardless of how important he is. If Nintendo uses anything from square, I say let it be Cloud or a Black Mage.
No to Simon Belmont too. I think Snake is enough from Konami. I think Sonic is a good choice though. I'd rather see Hiryu from Capcom or Dante personally...If I had to choose. How about Klonoa from Namco? Why not Bonk or Keith Courage from the HudsonSoft side?
I wouldn't mind seeing Musashi or Hotsuma from Shinobi or Astal. Anyone that remembers that game should get a gold star. Two if you actually played it.
good point @ sicknic. Sony would have been better served if they just paid the suit and the licensing fees. I think it's ironic that Nintendo is pushing Zelda on the Wii, 20 bucks says that Sony pushes God of War 2 on the PS3 in similar fashion. Emulation or imbedding chips, either way God of War is guranteed playable on PS3 IMO.
it would suck from a pricing standpoint but I think it's the best way to go. I think Backwards compatibility is great for making an easy solution for people that want to revist those games of old and giving gamers something to play when the (inevitable) drought creeps upon us after launch.
