Ten Beatles: Rock Band songs, first downloadable album revealed

Jun 1st 2009 1:54PM (Joystiq)
"Here Comes the Sun" and "Octopus' Garden" are both on Abbey Road, so there's a bit of overlap there. It's odd that they'd make songs from the Beatles disc available as DLC; but I guess those two songs probably aren't going to keep anyone from buying the new game. I mean, one of them is a Ringo song.

Rumor: BioShock 2 to feature multiplayer

Mar 16th 2009 4:11PM (Joystiq)
That's a stretch. Even if multiplayer winds up being a shoehorned bit of nonsense, that doesn't mean the single-player will be disappointing. What I think made Bioshock fun wasn't the actual mechanics of the FPS, which were solid but not exactly original; what was fun was the story, the design, the mood - all the stuff that's usually an afterthought for devs that just want to make the game with the best graphics.

Remember that Ken Levine - who was apparently the brains behinds the first game - switched to a different studio to work on Bioshock 2. Usually a change like that means creative differences; if you love the first game, you have to believe that the brains behind a game that original would want to keep things fresh (while 2K Boston might have been aiming for the quick, easy buck). I know it's hard to shutoff the ol' cynical autopilot, but maybe we should think it's possible that "multiplayer" might turn out to be something we're not even expecting. Or it could be all talk that amounts to nothing.

This may sound crazy, but you could always not play the multiplayer.

Radio mode: two players exchange pointed barbs via walkie-talkie. Not unlike the My Dinner with Andre arcade game from The Simpsons.

Hacking co-op: I'd give a kidney for a chance to sucker someone else into doing all my hacking minigames.

Find the Ayn: a race to find all the anti-objectivist references in the game. Winner gets a copy of the Communist Manifesto.

Also, team deathmatch or something.

For less than this monstrosity, you could buy a bigger HD and just save all your games to the HD - that'll help the noise.
