Fan brings 'Link's Awakening' into the world of 3D

Mar 18th 2009 9:12PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
As of now, there's no reason at all for the project to be shot down. This is no remake of Link's Awakening -- at least not at the moment --, the guy's just drawing the map in 3D. It'd be like stopping people from doing fanart.

Atlus releases trailer for 101-in-1 game compilation

Well, maybe not... But this is Atlus after all, so many might be actually good. I'll try.

This is a genius work. I have no idea why the hell people are calling these kinda controls "gimmicky". I bought a Wii because I wanted to be able to play in new ways like this. I'm glad the bloggers here agree.
And I hope I'm not sounding fanboyish... It's just that new ideas like these are what Wii is lacking right now - with it's controllers only being used the obvious ways most of the time.

Point/Counterpoint: 2D vs. 2D

Sep 27th 2008 11:31AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Sincerely, I would love if a surge of Wario-like games came about... It's a twist that took long enough to appear. I mean, nowadays, it's a bit less important, as much as I like it, but it should've been how many of N64 and PSX should've looked like. In those systems, we've seen downright fugly 3D, games that could have aged a LOT better if they were PRETTY 2D.

Born for Wii: Punch-Out!!

What would be an awesome feature would be a create-a-boxer mode. It should be fully customizable (Victorious Boxers level of customization, if not superior). We should also be able to input some neat things like voice (because I think this will be full of roars and screams, so it could be like: "Sound for when you get punched", "getting KO'd", "strong punch", "victory cry", etc.) through either WiiSpeak or getting it from the SD card.
Oh. And online multiplayer. It'd be a GREAT letdown not having hot blooded fights online.

2K only sent out shit this year (MLB 2k8, Top Spin 3?), not unsurprising they took a turn for the worst.

Guitar Hero: World Tour won't include 'No Fail' option

Sep 3rd 2008 11:28AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
It's great. Never actually played any of those games, but I think that if you're picking up a really hard song, and you fail halfway, you'll only have trained the beggining, so the next time you suceed that part but fail at the end because you never saw the end part....

ScummVM now has limited GameCube and Wii support

Sep 2nd 2008 9:49PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
If you don't do things like an idiot (namely, not knowing what you're doing because you didn't read tutorials - yes, read more than one if you're that afraid - enough), there's no big risk involved. It doesn't deal with things like the system menu, it just installs a channel, so the risk is very, very, very low.
