Report: Games may help steer interest in reading

Oct 7th 2008 8:25PM (Joystiq)
i played mud games so i ended up reading a lot and learning how to type properly and well. cuz when i'm in pvp, i'd be damned if i died because i couldn't get initiative from not typing "unsheath sabre", "unsheath sabre", "doubleslash " fast enough (and accurately). this was from playing in a telnet client without echos or backspacing before i realized the great world of mud clients and aliases.

i thought the article was literally going to be about that photo (boyfriend plays games, must read book). it'd be a second-hand smoke effect in a sense.

Nintendo points don't transfer between Wii, DSi

Oct 7th 2008 4:06PM (Joystiq)
if they had to restructure the entire wii online system just to make points universal, then that says so much about how awesomely brilliant the developers that designed it in the first place.

i'd like to think that their developers had sense in their designs and that they're just lazy in making these points universal.

and maybe you're right... perhaps this is old news. nintendo never learns right? nothing new there. :rolls eyes:

Dissidia trailer shows us FF cameos in action

Jun 26th 2008 3:50PM (Joystiq Playstation)
well i'm gonna go ahead and say it... 70% of the reason i'd replay the remakes is because of the visual upgrades. it's a legitimate reason too because a visual makeover can create a new experience on a second playthrough. i'd like to see some originals too... just finished playing through TWEWY. while it's not s-e, i'm looking forward to white knight chronicles. the more rpgs the better, remake or not.

Win a Kojima-signed copy of MGS4!

Jun 17th 2008 7:03PM (Joystiq Playstation)
in mgs, i was hiding inside a truck and was using a box. i went off to use the bathroom and when i got back, the scene changed and all of a sudden i was back outside near the beginning. even though i had to essentially redo some areas again, i was laughing at how hilarious it was that something like that could happen...

later on, i found another box and upon reading the description, realized what was going on (the boxes are labeled indicating that it is to be delivered to various locations).

Watch Sunny from Metal Gear Solid 4 all day as you play

speaking of product placement, i bet they could get a pretty penny if they had allowed tobacco companies bid on snake's cigs... =P

Vader and Yoda battling in new Soul Calibur IV trailer

Apr 19th 2008 11:30AM (Joystiq)
you know... they can throw in any character they want. at least for me, i've liked soul calibur for its fighting system and ability to make characters that look like real-life counterparts of their video game/anime character.

as long as they keep those two things in... then i'm sold for this one.

Ugh: Metal Gear Solid 4 Limited Edition exclusively at GameStop

Apr 10th 2008 1:43PM (Joystiq)
i prefer any store that has the game i'm looking for and doesn't try to sell me new games that are pre-opened and stickered up. fortunately, gamestop only tried to pull that off on me once.

and companies can be more likable than others... i, for example, prefer to shop at publix/whole foods over kroger/winn dixie. if all things were equal with video game availability, i would prefer getting the game at best buy over gamestop.

the way a store presents itself and the practices it performs on top of how the employees are can make a significant impact on most people enough to have them have a preference.
