I was a big Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3 fan, so I gave the open Beta a shot when it came out. I had fun, but money was tight and I had a pretty heavy social calendar so I didn't continue when the Beta ended. Over the next couple of years I used a few free trials, but time and money were still issues. Then in September of last year I found myself with more disposable income and living thousands of miles from any of my friends, so I fired it up again and haven't stopped.
Wonder how much they paid her to say that. I worked in a small, high-stress office where we had to stay in for lunch. All of the other employees would gather around one computer and play some word game while they ate. For me, it was much more relaxing to eat fast then go outside by myself and smoke a cigarette and listen to a few song on my iPod in solitude. Then at the end of the day I'd go home and drink heavily. I hated that job...
All I know is that I've been playing guitar and bass for almost 15 years and I'm absolutely terrible at Guitar Hero. It shares virtually nothing in common with real oplaying, and is really unintuitive unless you try to kill your instincts and unlearn everything about a real guitar.
Is anyone getting their panties in a bunch over this post actually old enough to have played Gauntlet in an arcade? Guess what? Not paying a quarter to continue DOES make a difference in the experience. Now I'm not agreeing that Msoft should charge you every time you continue, but to think the gameplay hasn't been affected at all is asinine. God forbid Vlad brings up a valid topic for discussion again. Having a bunch of cranky 13 year olds jump down his throat doesn't sound too appealing.
I saw a PS3 sitting all by its lonesome yesterday morning at a Target. I was pretty surprised. I'd be REALLY surprised if I see it again when I go back later today.
I waited six months to get my 360 and I don't regret losing any time. I'll get a PS3 in 6 months as well, once they actually have some games I'm interested in playing.
