I think it has a chance of being a good fighting movie. Mortal Combat was a good fighting movie with pretty great special effects for that time. The plot and acting were just enough to keep you interested and the martial artists in the film were some of the best at that time. Sure it wasn't a Jet Li or Chow Yun Fat flick but it had moments.
Never seen DOA, not really a fan. As for other games turned movies I have to say Silent Hill and Resident Evil are among the best as just movies alone. I'm a hardcore RE player and I found the movies to be an A- at least. DOOM was a great action movie, House of the Dead made me and my husband laugh but what can you expect from a movie that gives you a bunch of guns and zombies. And yes, I'll admit, there was no hope for Street Fighter.
Point is people need to seperate the game from the movie for about an hour and a half and enjoy it for what it is. If the director and writers can come up with some good actors, a decent story and fluid martial arts then they'll have a great fighting movie. Personally I can't wait to see it.
