Hacked PlayStation 3 reportedly runs Blu-ray games from HDD

Aug 25th 2008 2:44PM (Engadget)
If this is his proof - it's B.S.

I play warhawk without a disc all the time. Because I downloaded the game off PSN.

Also, you can see that he has the disc - or something - in the drive from the lights.

I call BOGUS.

Xbox 360 owners reporting blank video output issue

Jun 25th 2007 8:32AM (Engadget)
So the PS3 is cheaper.

How many 360s do you have to buy before you realize Microsoft will not fix the problem if you just keep going out to buy another faulty console after your previous fails?

$400 for console
$150 for repair (not including shipping)
$ 70 for XBL first year
----

$620. Not including any additional annual repair or XBL fees.

Rumor has it the PS3's SIXAXIS ready to rumble this year

May 25th 2007 7:29PM (Engadget)
Rumors are part of the business. As for PS3, all I have to say is:SOCOM, KILLZONE, HEAVENLY SWORD, GOD OF WAR, METAL GEAR SOLID 4, FINAL FANTASY XIIIONLY on the Playstation 3 can you play all of these games. If I want to play 360 games, I'll get Windows Vista. No need to buy the console when I can get the Live service on my PC and play the same games on it as well. I can't play SOCOM, KILLZONE, RATCHET & CLANK, MOTORSTORM or GOD OF WAR on PC. The only HD console anyone needs is a PS3

Nyko's PlayStation 3 Intercooler gets reviewed

May 11th 2007 10:20AM (Engadget)
I bought this thinking it was a great idea....

THIS IS A TERRIBLE PRODUCT!

Not even after having it hooked up for more than 2 minutes, I repackaged it and got my money back.

What they fail to inform you is that while the PS3 is off, the fans stay on. The only way to turn off the fans is by hitting the main power switch in front. The problem with this? It removes a very nice feature - power on/off the console with your controller or remote control.

Also, with the fan speeds manually controlled, you would have to regularly check your PS3 to determine whether or not you need to increase the fan speeds.

What I have found, this device makes the PS3 require more physical attention than before.

The PS3 has built-in fans that seem to kick into high gear if your PS3 is getting too hot. If by chance your PS3 reaches dangerous tempatures, it will automatically shutdown - so why do we need this? WE DON'T.

FYI - Many rumors have been floating around that only those who have used the Intercoolers (especially with the pass-through power supplies) have a higher percentage of console failure rate.

STAY AWAY! YOU DON'T NEED THIS! IF YOU THINK YOU DO, THERE IS A BETTER PRODUCT OUT THERE.

Look out PS3, it's raining ... PS1?

WHOOOO CARES!!! THEY'RE ALL OLD GAMES THAT LOOK LIKE CRAP ON HDTVs ANYWAY!

AND.. when they look 'okay' enough or are just FUN enough to play anyway...

Has anyone even tried playing these 'retro' games recently? Its so easy to forget how much controls have advanced over the past decade. They are much more responsive with newer games than in the past. Just try playing the PS classic MidEvil or Syphon Filter, terrible. Some games hold their time, while others... well, they kind of make you wonder; "What the hell did I see in this game 10 years ago?" (okay: Hot Shots Golf 2 is still loads of fun)

Give us more downloadable IPs and something better than ducks-in-a-tub (I know the name) or even more PSP to PS3 transitions would be nice (like GripShift).

Keep all the great stuff comin Sony!!

Hey kids, PSN HOME beta sign ups just opened.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

now, I don't know about you, but my PS3 has some games calling my name, gotta go.

(damn wasted a good 20 minutes on this board...)
