Cockpit Chronicles: DC-3 Flight Over Manhattan Celebrates Mechanic's 70 Years (With Video)

Jul 26th 2012 1:45PM (Gadling)
Its an illusion created by a very wide angle camera lens. You can see the buildings in the background distorting in the very same way as the DC3.

Space Shuttle Atlantis ends its run of predicting disaster for other NASA shuttles

@cgs721 sorry cgs but you are wrong. Our president has just announced the CANCELATION of ares and orion. He wants private companies to develop near earth orbit manned capability and set NASA on a path to spend the next 5 years "exploring" how to make a rocket to send men to mars or an asteroid. He is a damned fool.

iPod touch with 2 megapixel camera leaked in Vietnam (video)

May 19th 2010 11:04AM (Engadget)
Guys this isn't the NEW iPod touch. This a pre-production version of LAST YEARS iPod touch which at the last minute, for whatever reason, they left out the camera. This years new iPod touch will launch as usual in September and likely will have a case/look more in line with the forthcoming iPhone 4G. These guys in Vietnam simply got an a year old unreleased, never to be released, iPod touch.

@mindflayer: sadly i know about this because my brand new imac i7 is affected. to see exactly what my stock 10.6.2 i7 imac looks like look no further than this video: http://vimeo.com/7442566 and everyone reporting this has the same issue. the issue is *very* real and not a small %.

be very aware of the huge amount of video card and screen issues the 27 inch macs (of any processor, or GPU flavor) are having, the return % is huge. educate yourself before your purchase:

About the 1st generation iPhone/push notification post: an apology

Jun 21st 2009 9:03AM (TUAW.com)
As a reader of TUAW for many, many years I thank you for the apology. But while we are on the topic of mistakes and problems can I be frank while still saying I like your site? It's time for some "truth."

TUAW in the last 2 years has changed and not in a good way. Your coverage of significant Apple stories has grown poor in that you post major news coverage sometimes days after every other tech site has already posted the information. Unlike a site like Daring Fireball the delayed coverage doesn't contain anything that expands on the original news either making it just a rehash of what was on Digg, Engadget, AppleInsider, and Mac Rumors before. Your TUAW exclusive stories often are poorly sourced like what generated this apology and your application reviews read like Press Releases and sales pitches.

I like the light style of TUAW. I like LOTS of Apple stories. All that said I hope your return to prompt reporting of major Apple events and cut out the posters who write over hyped and under critical pieces on software and in this case flaws in software that simply aren't worth your readers time.

Don't worry, I'll keep checking with TUAW but keep hoping at the same time it gets better.

Analysts: Sept. 9 event will underwhelm

Sep 8th 2008 7:55AM (TUAW.com)
Well the problem is that most expect the iPods to be "evolutionary" not "revolutionary" this time around. Cosmetic changes to the nano and touch don't exactly bring the same excitement that occurred the first time Steve Jobs reached into his jeans pocket and pulled out the first nano. Unless there is a secret hidden product that no one is talking about (in the iPod or iPhone range as this is not a computer event) I think most will be underwhelmed as the iPod is quickly becoming a "mature" product that Apple is having difficulty innovating with anymore.
