Review: Shadow Complex (XBLA)

Aug 20th 2009 3:13AM (Joystiq)
Played about half way through the game today and have to say...not since Bioshock or COD4's multi have i been so entranced into the gameplay that I actually lost track of time. This is so pretty/enjoyable/easy to play/fun that the hours slip bye...and the sense of how big the game is once your about 20 min is is daunting...i cant wait to finish.
Most times with Arcade games it seem like just a 10 dollar rental..of some one time fun that i later regret buying because it was a one hit wonder when it comes to playability...but not here...i feel like this game is a steal for 15 dollars for what i'm getting.

p.s. lets not forget that wii owners will soon be shelling out the full 60 for a similar game simply because it has the Metroid label...shame

(go see District 9)!!!

Impressions: Mass Effect 2 'suicide mission'

Jun 3rd 2009 9:25AM (Joystiq)
The developers have already said that even though they wont say which characters are for sure back for the sequel, that if you let a character die in Mass Effect 1, then they are dead for good. So if you **spoiler** let Wrex die or Ashley then they are dead and gone assuming that you will use your ME1 save file for ME2... which ... I don't see why you wouldn't. So the thought that Shepard can't die, while not really that common to kill the head of the franchise, isn't outside of the ME universe...

If you havn't played through ME yet, go do it. It's been two years and weather the combat is in your liking or not, this is one of the best story driven games in a very long time. So play the game, then play it again so you can save who you want and complete their side missions so you can have the best ME1 file ready to jump right into ME2.

One gripe i have though ... weren't there supposed to be more DLC for ME1? There is "Bring Down the Sky" but weren't we promised something like 6-12 additional episodes at one point? Well regardless i can't wait for Mass Effect 2. And will be saving every 5 minutes if it is a suicide mission...

Pro skaters sound off in Tony Hawk Ride trailer

Jun 3rd 2009 1:29AM (Joystiq)
Actually the exploding shots are from an older video from Lakai Shoes called "Fully Flared". It is actually a very cool opening cinematic if ya care to youtube it...skater or not. Personally by the graphical looks i still feel that EA made a success with the .skate franchise and actually has something winning on their hands. Now weather it'll become another Madden and simply repeat is another story but for this story just commenting on the above video comments...Fully Flared by Lakai...check it out...

and BTW great Blog coverage by the the entire Joystiq crew today. Really appreciate the work and wish i could have made it this year but work took me to OH this week... best wishes all and enjoy your E3.

New PlayStation Eye game announced: Eyepet

Aug 20th 2008 6:42PM (Joystiq Playstation)
The people who are perplexed by this or brushing it aside simply because there is no "Frag counter" for how many of these crazy adorable things you can nuke (interesting patch on PSN though)...i think your missing the point of how important this is. First of all i like an online headshot as much as any fellow, but this little video has me just as excited as the first time i saw a Little Big Planet demo vid. Look at the innovation here, this is a future niche of where games are going, and its already been seen before though in a much more esoteric form (Eye of Judgment)...also for a system with such an overall mature set of games, this is a GREAT way to rope in younger crowds that no longer need a W!!mote to point and click but can now pet the very air to interact with their entertainment. Regardless if this interests you or now, don't shrug off its innovation.
