Over the past 10 years, I've had gamer's ADD. I maniacally jumped from one game to the other, never taking the time to play a game fully like I did with NES games when I was a kid.
Now I'm spending more time mastering Wii Sports. I'm approaching Gold Medal status in the Training modes and slowly working my way to Platinum. There's so much depth in Wii Sports that it's impossible to claim that it's just a tech demo.
On top of that, I have Super Castlevania IV, Bonk's Adventure, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Super Mario Bros., and the Everybody Votes Channel to fill in the rest of my time. I also own WarioWare, Excite Truck, Twilight Princess, and Call of Duty 3. That's an AMAZING lineup for a console that launched just 90 days ago. Unbelievable.
I never played it, but I sure did lust after a TG-16 when I was younger. I just couldn't justify the purchase since the SNES was right around the corner. I guess I should read up on if Bonk was really as good as the hype since it's now available for a measly $6...
Having spent years in the world of Counter-Strike, I actually like Nintendo's friend code system. I'm sick of online gaming where open voice chat is allowed, and would prefer to not hear all of those freaks. Give me an option to play strangers and an option to play friends and I'm all set.
Mario Kart DS is the perfect example of a flawless online experience. It's always fun and never annoying.
NJ Mom sounds like she's a bit anal; all concerned about "multi-plat game purchases" and whether the Wii is someone's "primary or secondary system" before she buys one for her "family" after weighing the pros and cons... (wtf?)
Who cares if the Wii will take off with non-gamers? If you enjoy games, you owe it to yourself to try the Wii. I've been playing video games pretty much every day since 1979 and the Wii is the most fun I've had in decades.
There's no way the Wii will beat the PS3. The overwhelming majority of the hip-hop sheep and bling chasers will never buy the Wii. They're swayed by status symbols. The more expensive something is, the more they want it. Plain and simple. And unfortunately, western society is overrun with them.
I have a huge complaint about the 360. It's noisy. The drive is complete crap, much like the Dreamcast's optical drive. I live in an apartment building and can't crank up my stereo while playing games. That and the backwards compatibility. I never owned an Xbox, so how am I supposed to explore the original Xbox games on the 360?
If they can release an updated 360 with a new optical drive and better backwards compatibility, they will easily earn my money.
Let's see... New York is one of the most liberal cities in the country. The Pace "survey" queried New Yorkers on the Post's credibility. The Post is owned by Murdoch, who is decidedly conservative, therefore most respondents would obviously claim that the Post is not credible.
As for me, I'll gladly read the Post over the Times or Daily News any day of the week.
#85 schtum, if he's a stockbroker, he's an idiot. "Is it possible to short Nintendo stock?" Of course it is. it's a stock. Stockbrokers would know that. Unless he's an idiot stockbroker... :)
